K2K! </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-fashion-era-challenge-20s-daywear#post-1469272 Mon, 06 Apr 2015 17:36:35 +0000 Diana 1469272@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I adore 20's style but it's not always the best fit for my body type.&nbsp; Drop waists, low stances, pleats, and straight cuts are hard for me to fit.&nbsp; So instead of a drop waist dress, I sort of faked it with a long handknit top and knife pleated skirt.&nbsp; The stylized leaf pattern and long straight lines on the top are reminiscent of early Art Deco styles.&nbsp; I added a long necklace for more 20's flair - it's not quite the iconic string of long pearls but gives a similar effect, I think.&nbsp; My handknit cloche hat doesn't quite match the colors, but it was otherwise too perfect to leave off!</p> <p>When I think of 20's shoes, I think first of T-strap dancing shoes with curved heels, but I don't own any of those, so I wore my dark teal patent oxfords instead.&nbsp; And since it's cold today, I had to add tights and a topper.&nbsp; I don't own anything like the low-stance, single button jackets/coats with big fur collars from the 20's (they wouldn''t fit me anyway), so I opted for my long black cardi, which continues the long straight lines.&nbsp; </p> <p>Finally, the color scheme.&nbsp; I didn't think it was very 20's (which I associate with pale colors and bright metallics) but then I realized it was reminiscent of the blue and gold color scheme of the<a href="http://hearstcastle.org/history-behind-hearst-castle/the-castle/pools/" rel="nofollow"> Roman pool at Hearst Castle</a>.&nbsp; So let's call it a nod to 20's excess, shall we?&nbsp; ;)</p> <p>For the record, I am indeed wearing this right now at lab.&nbsp; I did take off the hat indoors though. (My personal rule for these challenges is that I actually have to wear the outfits in my normal life.)</p> <p>(handknit top and hat, AT skirt and necklace, Pretty Nana oxfords, Kersh cardigan). </p>
