What I've started to think is that it's the smaller details that become hugely important in a restrained look. The style of the boot, the watch, the glasses, and the hair really are what takes the look from OK into chic or sophisticated. Every detail really counts when you pare down color, pattern, and shape. Really, I'm beginning to think that achieving a 10 in a restrained look is one of those styles that looks deceptively easy but is really demanding to execute.</p> <p>For what it's worth, I think this outfit is pretty high up on the scale as a restrained outfit. These are grey Frye boots, 3" heel.<br /> Chic: um... er... lacking! The sweater is cashmere (Halogen) but doesn't look very chic. I put on the scarf in #2 to try to add interest while still keeping it restrained. </p> <p>Hmmm ... maybe "restrained" is an important descriptor for my style? </p> <p>This feels ... okay. I think it needs more chic! How can I make that happen? </p>
