Agree - hem them and they will look great! I do like them with the blouse and jacket, not dumpy at all.

We truly are our harshest critic and trust me when I say this is not as wrong as you see it. Lovely blouse, very figure flattering. I hope you take Angie's advice and shorten the pants to see how that looks to you. She knows her stuff and would never steer you wrong and what do you have to lose by trying?

I love the blouse and wide legged pant look. That blouse is gorgeous with the wide legged pants.
Angie is right about shortening the pants. I am a pear and wide legged pants are my favourite bottoms. Shortening them makes them look more intentional as Angie says, more current and also it creates an A line look. It also works for hourglass shapes.
Travelling with a small wardrobe is challenging. It is a blog post.

I think Angie is right about the length. It's an awkward length, visually speaking.

Love the jacket btw!

GF as a fellow pear, I understand how you feel in wide leg pants, they have the same look on me too. However, looking at the photos, you look great. I love your blouse.

Wonderful blouse. I always find getting things totally right very difficult when traveling. I don't think the pant's look bad at all but how you feel is the main thing--I think the advice that's already been given should help.

Ah Im sorry your feeling that wat. I agree with Angie on the pants.

I don't like taking black with me when i travel. It does not make me feel happy.

I hope you are enjoying your trip.

Agree with Angie. Nicely done. And it is so hard to travel and always have every single thing you want.

Very pretty blouse. Wearing a black camisole under this outfit will prevent the "grinning effect" under it.

Shortening the trousers will create structure and look more intentional - prevent that dumpy feeling you suggest. They fit well. Trust me, they are not versatile at this length!

As per your analysis, in my experience from dressing my own clients, it's ample waist and bust definition up top that prevents a pear shape from feeling bottom heavy in wide pants. You created a good amount of structure with the blouse and jacket here. Nicely done.

One of the perils of traveling/commuting/having your wardrobe in multiple locations is that there are no remedies when you make a mistake in packing.

I bought this VB top a couple of days ago and love how it fits. But the pants? I think I erred. They fit well, and feel comfortable, but I feel pretty dumpy in them at the moment. Maybe that's five days away from home and my kitchen, and poor eating choices speaking, but I don't think wide leg works for me. I wouldn't want them hemmed, for reasons of versatility. These pants reaffirm my belief that unless the garment tapers in after the widest point in a pear shape, the wearer will look more bottom heavy. It's one of the reasons I prefer tapered skirts and trousers.

I'm nursing serious regrets about leaving behind my slim black cotton pants, but oh well. On to the party.
