<p>Thank you Tolkitty. I'm happy to be here. :)</p>
<p>Jeanie, if I didn't wear them as casual wear, they'd never get worn! I have very few events in my life, so I usually end up in dressy casual for my everyday life. Despite a puppy who loves to jump up on me. hehe</p>
<p>Thank you Debora! I hadn't thought about the boyish/feminine combo, but you're very right.

<p>Super cool trousers, E! I love the contrast of the boyish wool pants with the more feminine peplum sweater. Beautiful! Your "secret" touch of color adds an element of whimsy and fun. So adorable!

<p>I love that you wear wool trousers as part of your casual daily wear. &nbsp;I've been searching for the perfect pair that will work with flats like you have done. &nbsp; The peplum sweater is gorgeous!

<p>This looks cozy, and I love your attention to texture and color.&nbsp;I live in the northeast and also enjoy&nbsp;a big scarf and layers on a warmer winter day. Congrats on your successful relocation!!

<p>Thank you LBD! They have some great ads, so I feel quite tickled. Honestly, my thrifting skills are more about looking at everything &amp; visiting regularly, so that I’m there when just the right thing turns up. If I were really skilled I think I’d be better at leaving empty handed during the other trips, when something on my wishlist isn’t there, but suddenly there are new cute blouses calling my name. hehe<div><br /></div><div>Thanks Angie! I didn’t mean to imply there was anything wrong with it; I think winter’s so much easier to dress for than summer! And thanks very much for the killer; I’ll pass it along to Thistle pup! hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Aww thanks Lisa! I had to google Kinfolk, but it looks like a very neat website!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx RachyLou &amp; Astrid. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>MG, I’m slowly becoming a trouser vs skinny convert, I suspect. I still find the proportions trickier, but I find myself reaching for trousers more than skinnies these days. Except for my corduroy skinnies. I might do a post soon requesting forum help on styling wider (compared to skinnies) trousers without waist definition.</div><div><br /></div><div>Alasse, I cropped out my awkward expression in #6. hehe I’m sure my pup thinks I’m generally deranged; I take pics right before our afternoon walk, so she’s always an impatient observer.</div><div><br /></div><div>They are Arlettas Firecracker! I got mine off ebay for steal, but that does mean I didn’t get the velvet laces that I think they came with via retail. I love them though.</div><div><br /></div><div>Aubergine, I swear a large part of why I got into knitting was so that I could make some mitts &amp; insulate my poor wrists! You never see 3/4 sleeves in the men’s section. Hmph.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Shevia!</div><div><br /></div><div>Tania, I’ve found four pairs now via thrifting &amp; they’re completely worth the hunt, especially if you’re long through the rise (mine are all very high rise). They’re very warm &amp; cosy. Good luck! If you strike out there’s always ebay or etsy; you’ll pay a bit more but still good a great quality/cost ratio. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Wow, thank you Suz. That made my day. We’re in a winter storm watch through Thursday and have plenty of snow on this side of the lake too. I’m loving it! Definitely have a coat on instead of a jacket though.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Sara! I’m glad you approve of the matchy matchiness; I know it’s not everyone’s cuppa.</div>

<p>Love the peplum on the top and the nubbly tweed of the pants! And 3/4 sleeves annoy me too. Something about those last few inches of wrist being uncovered in the cold just drives me crazy.

<p>I love this outfit, E! The belt over the sweater is a fun and flattering retro touch with the drapey cuffed tweed trousers. And I think those are Born Arlettas, right? No wonder I like them; I have a pair, too (mine are brown)! Thistle is adorable as always, too.

<p>Today I didn't feel like *thinking* about my clothing, so I opted for an almost embarrassingly easy cold weather formula: statement sweater &amp; wool trousers. I love peplums in general, and this one reminds me of ballerinas, so it's especially prized! The scalloped neckline makes me smile too, enough that I'll even forgive its 3/4 length sleeves (I loathe that so many women's tops have skimpy sleeves, thus exposing my wrists to cold in the winter or burning sun in the summer).&nbsp;I thrifted these trousers in August, when I still lived in Texas (just before my successful NY apartment hunting trip actually); I was so excited to finally own some grey tweed! With all of the neutrals,&nbsp;I added a few fun details: the velvet belt for extra texture and my hand knit teal socks for a secret touch of colour (hence the awkward photo of me pulling up my trousers, so that you can all share the secret too, lol). I chose delicate gold&nbsp;jewelry to echo the sweater's buttons but not detract from all of the statement pieces of the outfit and called it a day. I love outfits that don't require any thought or adjusting throughout the day, and honestly after wearing skirts and trousers like these for a few days, my skinnies suffer in comparison! lol</p>
<p>This is a thicker sweater, and although it's mainly a cotton/nylon blend, the addition of angora makes it surprisingly warm; I didn't get to wear it much in Texas. &nbsp;Between it and the lined wool trousers, I was curious to see if a wool blazer &amp; accessories would be enough to keep me warm in the mid 30s weather (1-3 C). Not many of my blazers are wool, but this light grey be-ruffed one is and even has a bit of cashmere blended in for cosy luxury!&nbsp;I opted for the wool/cashmere pashmina my sister got as bridesmaid's gifts last year, in such a useful, pretty grey,&nbsp;as it's by far my warmest scarf (from Nordstrom too!), and my teal wool hat &amp; mitts to add a touch of colour and make up for the 3/4 length sleeves. The weather report suggests we'll have snow very soon, so I wanted to wear my oxfords while I still could. And then I went outside, to discover to my delight that I was quite warm &amp; comfortable&nbsp;during my hour long stroll. I love the possibility of extending the temperatures in which blazers work as outerwear for me (as I rarely wear them inside)! Not to mention the oxfords; coming from Texas, where any hint of cool weather was a good enough excuse to pull out boots, I hadn't realised how warm flats can keep you. I was very pleasantly surprised.</p>
<p>All feedback is welcome as always.&nbsp;:)
