Thanks, TPS! Unfortunately, Ann Taylor pants never work out for me -- I have narrow hips and thighs. I did try on some colored Joe's Jeans that fit perfectly; they were high waisted. I am still debating about ordering those. As for low rise jeans, when shopping with my DD18, there was one pair that I tried on but didn't buy... I may go back and get them. They are from a store called Love Culture? Does anyone know anything about that? It seems to be kind of like a F21 or H&M.

@Shiny: I love your outfit! You mentioned that if you could find jeans that are comfortable, don't dig, and can be tucked in you would give them a whirl? I recently found a pair of jeans that I LOVE. The Ann Taylor "Slim" jeans are wonderful and are a tiny bit stretchier than most jeans but still sit well on the hip, tuck in well, etc. I did a whole review here: http://thepearshape.com/?p=904
I am a bit curvier than you so I bought their "curvy slim" option but they have a standard as well. Hope that helps!

Suz, all my skinny jeans have scrunch, which means I cannot easily tuck them into these boots either. (With tall boots I just fold the skinnies up into a very long cuff and they tuck just fine). These ponte knit pants are quite short (they shrunk in the wash) so you'd think they'd work better, but they keep coming untucked. I tried tucking them into my socks but then the socks show. I suppose stirrup pants would work but I'm not going there ever again. I'm sure these boots would work fine with skirt/dress and tights, but that's not why I purchased them.

Aida, I am on the hunt for more belts! I'm not having much luck. Have found zero I like at the mall.

Joy, the sweater is this one:
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=195919052

It is not itchy at all. It's rather lightweight too. I would not call it chunky. It is a looser, slightly slouchy fit, not intended to be too body con, so no b**b OR muffin top issues here! It is perfect fit for doing the half-tuck. I got the sweater in two colors, white and red. But yes, I know exactly what you mean: this is why I gravitated towards cardigans instead. However do give the pullovers a second chance: I am finding that they are cut differently this season (slightly slouchy) and they work.

There's also a shawl collar sweater at BR I really liked; it is thicker material, doesn't fit as slouchy, and is a tad shorter in length (might work well for skirts). I discovered that the XS regular fits me just fine; I imagine if I bought it in petite it would be perfect skirt length. I didn't buy in the store since I wanted to think about that. I also tried on the striped sweater, in regular (wasn't in petite in the store) and that sweater is awesome too! Except it was too long, so I want to order the petite. BR never disappoints me when it comes to sweaters.

That said, something is up with BR lately. I ordered the V-neck sweater online a few weeks back. I got an email saying it had already sold out (in all colors and sizes), so they would credit my account. But see? The sweaters are still offered on the site!!! I wound up calling customer service; they told me the site just hadn't been updated yet, and they located the sweaters at a store in CA, and that store mailed them to me -- but it took forever. In the meantime, the sweaters are still showing online and that just irks me. It's like they are taunting me... we have sweaters but not for you!

Then Monday I ordered two more sweaters (different styles) and this morning I got yet another email saying they'd already sold out and my account would be credited. What is up with that??? The sweaters are new and only appeared on the site last week, and they sold out THAT quickly? Yet they are still showing on the site? I will call customer service shortly and I expect I'll end up having them locate the sweaters at a store that can mail them out to me. Still... it is such a friggin' hassle. Especially because my local BR has substantially downsized their petite section, resigning me to online shopping.

It's funny you all liked my hair! I guess you can't tell in the photo but it was terribly greasy.

As for the outfit being "boring" ... what is funny is that in the past year I was on such a dress jag, because dresses are so easy. I don't know why this formula would seem "boring" to me, as it's just as easy. Or make that "simple."

This is such a great looking outfit! Is the BR sweater a recent purchase? Is it itchy? I wanted a chunky knit but my ...ahem..b**bs look like a couple of walnuts in those sweaters. I wonder if anyone else has that problem. Now I know why I got rid of that style and never replaced them. You look great!

Gorgeous!! I love this formula, too. It is pretty much my work-at-home look; I add a jacket to go out. Well, sometimes I wear a button down shirt or blouse instead, but this is the idea.

The one item I don't have is mid-calf boots. But I am thinking of getting some. However, if pants always come untucked from them, maybe it is not such a great plan. I wonder.....

DH has been sick with a cold all week and I think I might be coming down with it, or I'm just run ragged from lack of sleep due to his constant coughing at night. This is me dressing for comfort. Usually on weekdays I dress up, and wear a dress or skirt. This is more of a weekend casual look, but it was cozy and that's what I was craving.

You know I'm not feeling well when I take a shower and I forget to rinse the conditioner out of my hair! Yeah. My hair was a limp mess all day.

- BR v-neck merino wool sweater
- NAS scarf
- snake skin belt
- INC black ponte knit pants
- Frye booties

Not shown: wore this with Jcrew cobalt wool coat, for pop of color.

Notes:

1) The pants kept coming untucked from the boots, which are sublimely comfortable, but I found that annoying.

2) This is my formula these days -- instead of a blouse with a cardi, I just pop on a V-neck tee or sweater and add a belt for interest. It's easy as can be, which is GREAT when I don't want to over-think, but it's also a bit of a snore.

3) These pants are actually low rise, at least for me, they are. I used to never ever ever wear a top this short with them, certainly not half-tucked like this. But, if I could find jeans that fit like these do (i.e, comfortable, don't slip down or dig in, and they don't cause muffin top), I might actually give them a whirl. Yes. I said that!
