efbgen -- twice now (including today) I've run out of uniform jeans. I bought a pair on sale to try to cover the gap a little better, and I'm doing my best to find a good additional pair or two to buoy up the wardrobe once cold weather hits in the fall and I can't wear the cropped pair. I got used to having enough clothes that I could go nearly two weeks without laundry, and now it's less than half that!

Glad to hear you have enjoyed the benefits of a dress code that works and makes life/ dressing easier. Just cautioning about leaving yourself too short on items. When I did that and a family emergency prevented me from getting laundry done I learned the hard way to give myself some wardrobe wiggle room. Thumbs up

Agree with others who have said your variety within this uniform look is a pleasant surprise. Focusing your style simplifies and lets you make the most of the look you love.

I think everyone likes 3 more than I do... but I liked it enough to keep it, after all! I'm pretty wary of anything that I think emphasizes my bust, which is emphatic enough without any help. (Speaking of, the bra revamp I mentioned needing in my dress code post went very well!)

I often semi-tuck, because I usually wear a belt and because I like to lengthen my leg-line a little bit. I'm quite plump with short legs, so balancing that out helps me look more put-together (for all that I have a very casual style). Clearly I should make the semi-tuck part of my regular life...

I'm thinking I should also add a red/pink/coral shade to my tops at some point. I think that'd look lovely with grey and give me some more variety.

Ya, you are a natural for a semi-tuck. You have a long enough torso (whereas I am sooo short waisted).

3 and 6 are my favorites. Maybe the shorter sleeves and lighter colors work to brighten up? Great semi tuck, as Angie said!

Glad you’ve sorted out your new dress code. Well done.

I particularly like #3. KILLER. Great semi tuck, garment fits and proportions. That horizontal stripe is very flattering.

Fantastic! I also see lots of variety here, more than “gray jeans and striped tops” might have led me to expect.

I actually think the boden striped shirt in #3 is really flattering on you — it hits your curves in exactly the right spots.

I am so glad this uniform is working so well for you!!!

The Cat, thank you! I really love my jeans. The pink sneakers are one of two pairs I have from Atheist; the other are their casual derbys in a discontinued light-blue shade. I find them very comfortable but the sizing runs more like Eccos than like most Euro-sized shoes in my experience — I usually wear 38.5 or 39, but in both Ecco and Atheist I wear 40s.

Joy, those jeans look like a great cut! I will keep them in mind.

Sara L, I think there’s a real risk of looking TOO uniform. I had a wide variety of striped tops in general, and I think as I replace pieces and so on I’ll need to be careful to keep that variety. The jean silhouette is also going to be something to watch. My three-season tops are even more varied than my lightweight ones, but it would be VERY simple to end up with only white-and-blue Bretons if I wasn’t paying attention.

Wow, you just made me realize that all my grey jeans are skinny. My newest are from NAS in a past year, but fit more like straights and are a very heavy winter weight denim. Kut From the Kloth Diana Stretch Skinny jeans

Sorry, I can't help you wen it comes to where you can get grey jeans. I have one pair, and they were found at my local thrift shop years ago. Now I need to repair them, and I hope to get some more wear out of them, as I love them and find them very versatile. Mine are bootcuts.

Just chiming in to say that it's good to see that you, too, love grey jeans. They look great with a multitude of colours and styles. I wish you good luck. By the way, I also like your pink sneakers in #2 and the stripey top in #3.

Nice! I thought the grey jeans and stripes dress code would look fairly homogeneous but all these outfits are really different from each other. I really like the Boden top in #3 and think it's really flattering on you. I also really like the new Stitch Fix moto. BTW - I occasionally use Stitch Fix too. Usually at the beginning of each season. It started as a birthday gift from my sister.

Everyone was so helpful and supportive as I worked through getting myself a dress code and refining my wardrobe. I thought I'd share some updates, now that I've been wearing it a while.

Overall, I really enjoy it! It cuts my clothing-worry time by a lot, although I do have to keep on top of laundry. I've had one day where I resorted to backup non-grey jeans, and even though they were previously a favorite pair, I definitely won't be replacing them when they go.

Of the pieces I ordered to round out my top selection, one of them (the BP. tank) will be going back, but the Boden tops (see Finds & pics!) are staying.

The only other issue I've noticed so far is that, in keeping track of where I can get grey jeans...most grey jeans are skinnies. I like skinnies as much as the next person, but I do like some variety. I'll have to keep a sharp eye out for non-skinny options. My next skinny pair may be from Warp + Weft; I'd love to hear from anyone who has clothes from them and can give opinions!

One pair of my grey jeans has not made it into these pictures, somehow. It is a cropped, cuffed pair, about the same color as the Old Navy "Silver" pair. I've worn it three times since I started trying to remember to take pictures but it must have a built-in forgetfulness generator.

Pictures:

Human Like Me top from Androgynous Fox. One of my non-striped queer shirts. Every time I look at this pic I think that I should've thrown on my green striped cardigan for it; I really miss the stripes. Old Navy "Rockstar" jeans in "Stone Lake".

Gap striped tee, possibly men's? that I've had for a few years. The green & blue combo always made it hard to wear, but I love it with the grey. The jeans are also Old Navy skinnies in "Silver". The shoes are Atheist Shoes "Das Sneaker" in a Kickstarter exclusive shade of pink.

Boden top, Old Navy skinnies. I love the top although it emphasizes the width across the bust a little too much, since the wider stripes continue onto my arms at just the wrong point. I kept it anyway!

Boden top, men's 541 Levis in "Gated Grey". These were the jeans I found buried in my drawers and thought I must hate, because why would I bury them? I do not hate them. I love them. I think they must just have gotten lost in my mess. "Athletic" fit jeans tend to work better on people with small waists/large hips & thighs than a lot of other fits, since they are assuming big glutes & quads. I find them really comfy, though they still gap a little in the back sometimes.

Black Liverpool moto-style jacket (Finds), Papermoon "Egan" tank, Levis. The moto & tank were from my most recent Stitch Fix box; I went and made the casual clothing options on that really tight to see what would happen, and I think getting two items to keep right afterwards is pretty good!

Same, but with the jacket off.
