I like the oxfords with the grey skirt. It's not a dainty look but I don't think that's what you're after with the jean jacket. I'm happy to see this - I have some light oxfords arriving tomorrow and am hoping I can wear them like this.

Sensational skirts with lots of interest in the draping and I like it both ways with and sans leggings. Cute oxfords, too.

Thanks Angie! I appreciate you ringing in. woo hoo! I am also glad you think gray oxfords work because I will likely wear them with the gray skirt often.

Gigi, I hear you on #1, I think a T that isnt too fitted but not as oversize as the white sweater is a wardrobe hole for me. Soon to be remedied... Hello Everlane! I did wear my white leather jacket over 1/2 when I went out so that helped with adding structure I think (but was running late and didnt snap a pic ). I saw your link on the skater skirts and was lured in but help strong. Cant wait to see you wearing them!

Kellygirl, I totally tried to explain the gray column of color to DH who was like... "i dont know if you can wear the grays together." LOL. Girl on the go is the reality of my lifestyle and I am trying to buy and dress for it so I am excited this is the read you get here :)

Deborah, so flattered! I definitely have plans for these skirts with my sorel sandal boots as the weather warms and and wearing the black on with my structured swing jacket now

I love these skirts. Stunning. And I like both outfits a lot. Leggings looks great and the ballet flats add a touch of sweetness which is nice. I could see both skirts with an edgy shoe or summer bootie and a structured jacket

I really like these. The black skirt looks terrific with the leggings and loafers. It looks very modern with the white top. Great job winterizing the skirt. The grey skirt/outfit looks springy and fun. Love the oxfords. I think this is a great casual, GOTG kind of outfit!

I don't see any horizontal lines. I think these look cohesive and sleek. The grey is like a column of color with a denim topper. I think as long as the leggings and skirt are the same color you are good.

Nice skirt! It reminds me of Diana's bubble skirt, just less voluminous.

I'm having a hard time seeing the detail in the pic with the black skirt, so I'll comment on the gray one. I really like the denim jacket with the skirt--it helps offset some of the lack of structure that you pointed out. As far as other ways to remedy the lack of structure, all I can think of is maybe wearing a tighter-fitting top instead of a looser-fitting T-shirt. (This is probably why I don't wear much unstructured clothing--I don't know what to do with it. :^))

My personal feeling is that the oxfords are a little heavy for this outfit. I don't quite know what to suggest instead. I think maybe you need something with a lower vamp. Maybe a flat, like in pic 1? Hopefully someone else will have some good input!

I know what you mean about wanting to break stuff out right away. I bought two faux leather skater skirts a week ago, and they are languishing in my closet. I want to wear them! But even with tights it is still too cold. But I think it is supposed to get up to the fifties this coming week, at which point I will break them out!

In putting together my spring capsule I decided to update my worn and pilled black knit pencil skirt with this Garnet Hill knit skirt (which i couldn't decide on the color so I duplicated.... ) :

http://www.garnethill.com/drap.....redirect=y

I definitely feel like these outfits have a lot of the modern feel I like with the interesting cuts and unusual pairings but I wonder if they lack a little structure or perhaps have too many horizontally cutting lines? What do you think? What might you recommend to remedy those issues?

Perhaps trying to wear summer skirts when it is still winterish is a challenge better avoided.... but my Team Wear side wanted to break them out right away, which is always a good sign for me. If i dont want to wear it right away, I usually find I should have returned it....

Feedback welcomed :)
