Awwww you ladies are absolutely lovely! Thanks for your feedback!

@Suz: Dolmans are usually a warm-weather item for me too, though these slip well into jackets. I think I'll need to get used to the volume on volume thing because my eyes are used to fitted/volume balance. When I look back at the photo, it's not really that bad as the hip/thigh area is a bit more structured/tailored.

I will check out Natalie's posts as well. She seems to wear a lot of sheath dresses (which I'm a huge fan of), but I'd like to take a page in her book in how to style separates to satisfy my apple tendencies.

I really like this and find it very flattering on you. I don't see too much volume...I think it's perfect.

I like dolman sleeves, too. I don't wear them a lot because I also like jackets and they can be hard to layer over, but I have always loved the look.

And I like this one on you!

I don't find it bad at all with the jeans but perhaps I have a high tolerance for volume on volume? If it bothers you, then wearing with slim jeans should work great!

Check out Natalie's posts (Goldenpig). She has great "apple" dressing style and always finds a way to work with her "apple."

I love dolman tops. I really do. It's essential to my personal style, not just because I find it aesthetically pleasing but because it's the ultimate "muffinator" (ermm.... It gets rid of my muffin top). This is why I've been dependent on them for quite sometime.

You can see this top in action here as well:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....schoolwork

Yet somehow, I can't get them to work with these flares.

I should've posted a side view photo of me because the fit of these AE flares are killer: probably the best-fitting pair I have. However, the jeans got frumpified by the top. Too much volume, perhaps?

I've been struggling to pair these flares with a top that doesn't overemphasize the muffin. It's been tough. Cowl necks do a decent job in muffin concealment but sometimes, the muffin just spills out! Semi-tucking fluid button downs make me feel like a man and I struggle with finding tailored jackets that actually curve in to my natural waist. Argh, to be a squishy bellied one!

I managed to purchase a fluid dolman sweater for the flares though, and will be attempting Angie's fluid knitwear + flares look in the future. So my flares finally have a top I can wear it with.
