Happy accident indeed!

It is a bit hard to see but what I can see looks great. Please wear them out of the house, especially if they feel that great as well.
I think slouchy is when the crotch point of the pants is lower than the natural. Drapey is when the crotch point is not low but overall fit is not tailored and has an ease to it.
Although I am by no means an expert in this topic...:-)

Shiny, thanks for clarifying. The more I look at your pic the more I love your look. Now I also want to try some slouchy knit pants in a dressy look like yours!

KM, they are pretty slouchy on me. Sorry the angle of the photo makes it difficult to see - no DH to help me take a photo that day. The crotch drops quite a bit. I can drop it even lower if I tie the waist lower, but for this cropped sweater I'd then be showing skin! Also then they'd puddle more around the ankles, since I'm only 5'0. Here I have them hiked and secured pretty much at my natural waist, which is on the high side, yet there is still about an inch of crop drop.

It's hard to see where the sweater ends and the pants begin in this pic, because the sweater has a wide black band. I do like that affect.

Love the laundry story! I've tried to "fix" garments by shrinking them on purpose in the dryer, but that's never worked for me.

I tried to compare your picture with the link you provided to see more detail. It looks like they are less slouchy on you than on the model? To my eyes they look dressier and more elegant on you--both because of how they fit you, and because of how you styled them. I love your look from head to toe, looks so chic to me.

On the "cheating" feeling: I remember in the early 90s wearing very fluid, drapey, soft-fabric wideleg pants with forgiving elastic waists. They were in fashion then (at least in Brazil) and everyone wore them. I used to wear mine with a sleeveless turtleneck and heeled sandals and always felt like a million bucks while at the same time being so comfortable. I'm all for stylish looks that can feel like jammies too.

These are luxurious and as flattering as they are comfy. I say "sure" to wearing them out. I might not wear them in a strict business environment wit a "suit" dress code, but I think they would be awesome for those days when you work late, or for travel days (great for flights). Do you you still have any of those shrunken jackets that were so popular years ago? They would look fresh worn with this pant, instead of the old bootcut, long tee, teeny jacket look.

Westsidesue - does this help:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ei.....15?cm_cat=

If not, basically the fabric is just like a soft merino sweater. Feels lightweight, yet is warm.

I'm not sure about the difference between drapey and slouchy either, but you look great in this cosy and comfortable outfit. They certainly don't look remotely like jammies, so I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be appropriate to wear in public.

It speaks to the quality of the fabric that the pants still feel soft despite being in the dryer. What a happy laundry accident!

I REALLY like the proportions you have going here. Looks very good. With the pants, it is hard to see much more than the silhouette, so can't say whether they look like jammies, but they do look good.

I guess technically they are slouchy pants? I'm not sure of the difference between drapey and slouchy. All I can say is that I felt like I was cheating.... going out into the world in sweat pants or even jammies!

These are the EF Merino slouchy pants. I bought them awhile back, they arrived and instantly I was in love with the warmth and oh so coziness... except they were humungous on me! Waist came up to my bra band. Length pooled sloppily around the cuffs. BUT I kept them anyway and have been slouching around at home in them, sleeping in them, lounging... not daring to go outside. Shamelessly expensive upscale uber comfy jammies/loungewear.

Then DH (sweetheart that he is) did my laundry while I was away on business. And he threw these into the dryer. And they shrunk... to perfect length! While still retaining the softness warmth coziness factor.

So what do you think? Do they work for going out in public? Still on the fence because they are Just. So. Comfy. Did I mention I feel like I'm wearing jammies? How can I get over that mental space? Clothes worn in public aren't supposed to be this comfy!

The top -- is a cropped sweater I got from BR back in the early Fall. I have worn it a couple times popped over a longer blouse, but otherwise it has become somewhat of an orphan because I get squirmy with such layering. Because these EF pants are high waisted, the top seems to work on its own without needing an under layer.
