As you mentioned, it is hard to see since the black all blends together. But if you feel like something is giving you the "flower pot" look, then I would avoid it. I think that as long as the tops of the booties are quite close to the leg, you'll be OK. :^)

Waving back at you, unfrumped! Here's to wearing our dresses- cold weather or no cold weather!

I think those boots look great with the dress. It has taken me some getting used to booties with a dress, but the look is so mainstream now, and those first ones fit so nice and close to your leg that they look quite sleek.
Thumbs up from me!

Thank you! Sorry for dark pics. Yes, catnip those are the Linda, and I have really enjoyed them. Thank you, Angie, for the encouragement.
Thistle, the Steve Maddens were my "gateway" booties, so that was good but now I have an idea of what I would like with skirts. I still like the suede and buckle styling of them, though.
April, thanks for the link. It is bootie madness!
I'm hoping to finish out the winter creating a few more outfits with existing dresses/ skirts and the Munros rather than searching hard for another boot right now, but I'm watching what is coming out to see which ones look like my kind of fit & also hoping for luck with a nude or pale color.

I like the boots in #1 with the dress. I am not fond of the boots in the second picture primarily because of well named flower pot look. I do like the shape of them otherwise!

If the Munro booties in picture #1 are the Linda ankle boots, I have them and love them. I haven't worn them yet with a skirt because it's too cold to even think about wearing a skirt. Nevertheless, I bought them with the expectation that they would look really good with skirts because they fit closely at the ankle and also because they are quite refined. To my eye (and some may disagree), boots that are too lose around the ankle just look sloppy when worn with a skirt.

All I can say is, have a look at the Zara skirt page and see how they're styling virtually every skirt: http://www.zara.com/us/en/woma.....37604.html

ETA: Forget Zara's bare legs -- when it's cold, it's cold.

I was determined to get more wear out of some dresses (waving to Parsley) including my “LBD” that I’ve only worn once or twice and for more dressy occasions. But it’s really a very simple style and fabric. So right before our severe cold snap hit, I outfitted it with fleece tights, booties and animal print scarf to make it warmer and not fancy.

Here is my question for the eagle-eyed fabbers, though I know the black does not project well: what do you think about the narrower-but taller shaft Munro ankle boots (first pic) vs. the more typical short booties (second pic) which give me with the flower-pot look? Does the Munro look too non-intentional, i.e., is it a problem that it’s not really a moto nor a mid-calf boot? Pic 3 is with topper.

I like the trying the look of the more fitted ankle, and also this boot has a “quiet” sole which can be useful at work, whereas # 2 is hard-soled and click-clops a bit. The Munro's were purchased to be pants boots, and I’m getting plenty of use from them,, but this weekend I wore them with the dress. I thought because there was so much black, the shaft height is less of an issue.

What say you? Fab faux pas, or does it work? Also any other bootie advice welcome.
