The overall outfit is very fab, it's not so much bookending as just how it appears to my eye and my perception of balance. The outfit is light and colorful and then to my eye the black jacket kinds of weighs it down. This might be a rubbish idea, but even if you were to turn the cuffs of the shirt back over the cuffs of the jacket, that could jibd of "blend" the jacket.
