Here's where I think the doubts might be coming from: this kind of ensemble is a JFE look on 99.9% of anyone not paid to display clothing for a living. Wearing and enjoying JFE looks requires some mental adjustment for some of us who've put a lot of effort into figuring out what's most conventionally flattering. </p> <p>The boots look good with overall proportions, to my eye. </p> <p>For me personally, I'm not yet comfortable baring lower leg between cropped hem and top of boot. But it looks fine with your distressed jeans, I think? And I have big shoulders (and other things), so I don't think I'll be trying this with skinnies, because I feel like straight legs balance my torso a bit. When I tried on a top somewhat similar to yours, I liked it best with the front tucked in above a belt buckle, to at least vaguely indicate potential presence of a waist. (I don't have one.) I am a late adopter who is not entirely convinced this will look good on me and my first foray didn't do much to bolster my confidence. I thought of this outfit in the night while up w the baby. (New tooth cutting thru. Yay!) Mornings move quick so I didn't have time to fiddle w the components. It's not a great look. How can I improve?</p> <p>These distressed jeans are one of my few crops. They have a button fly that's hidden. I usually roll them up a few inches in hotter weather. </p> <p>Moto boots are a newer aquisition. I like them but they look quite clunky here. They ARE motos so I guess that's the point. Do my eyes need to adjust or is the proportion off?</p> <p>This blouse mixes a dainty floral w an animal print hem. I thought it was flattering but seeing it in a picture makes me question if this blouse is really on my team, rooting for me. I'm no longer sure.....</p> <p>On the upside no one appeared to stare at me at drop off or while at the store and post office. I was definitely self conscious. </p> <p>How can I make this better guys? Are there any redeeming pieces to this look? </p> <p>Off to catch up on the blog and forum.... </p>
