Thanks!

Viva I think I'm in the process of experimenting to discover my style. For some reason approaching dressing by this angle - as inspiration/interpretation of shapes rather than following an outfit math formula (which is my default: jeans + top + jacket for example) taps into a different part of my brain. It's been a fun experiment/learning exercise for sure.

No worries Dee, I didn't read it that way. It wasn't a look I ever intended to wear outside, I was just documenting part of the experimentation process. But then I thought, the interwebs ARE outside

Suz - yes, I see how that kind of scarf could work well, and a little weight at the end of scarves does help the drape/stability sometimes, doesn't it?

Rabbit, just in case it came across like I meant there was, there wasn't anything wrong with #2. It might be a little much for day-to-day, but clearly that's not the point of runway looks. I like that you were able to translate from the literal interpretation in 2/3 to your version in #4 though.

Rabbit, you are genius!! Seriously, these looks are very cool to begin with, and your interpretations -- from your closet, no less, are super inspired. Also, you look stunning in that blue.

I have worn a scarf like that knotted at the ends. I really liked it. Mine wasn't even a heavy knit -- it is actually a light cotton from the GAP a few years ago. But it is quite long and also maybe a bit bulky (really wide, so you have to fold or twist it a lot to make it into a long rectangle) and knotting the ends kept it in place -- like weights in a curtain. I think the main thing is having one with enough length.

ha! Carter, I did pin up my hair in loose loops, but I haven't got the volume, that's true...

My hair is at the very awkward 'needs a haircut, but I'm trying to delay it until my roots show' stage.

Warmer out today, and the hyacinths in my garden have purple buds, So I wanted to inject some flowers too.

1) I started with Commes des Garçon look 6 as inspiration

2) First outfit is my initial idea, and then 3) with a cardigan to make the belly area look narrower.

5) Modified outfit (because, yeah, belly baring outside, not gonna happen for many reasons). I first tried the top with a semi tuck to get a hi-lo cropped look. This looked pretty bulky from the side and didn't work so well proportionally with the rounded bottom to the skirt to my eye. It might have worked if I'd pulled the skirt down a bit and taken out the pins making the bell shape, but I kind of liked the bell skirt and wanted to keep that part.

4) Second to last photo is how I'm wearing it today, skirt pulled a little lower, and knots in skirt pinned under so they hang even and tucked, scarf worn a little like the way I wore dupatta's sometimes in India. Bonus is it stays completely out of the way, and tucked under the cowl roll - stays in place.

Oh, I tried putting knots in the ends of scarfs because that was intriguing, but didn't have a scarf that was both bulky and long enough to work this way. Pretty sure with the right scarf though...

cotton cowled sweatshirt - Ralph Lauren/Macy's clearance
chiffon skirt - converse/target
tights - target
suede oxfords - Sugar/kohls
embroidered and woven scarf - powell's bookstore

All feedback and tweaking ideas welcome. Thanks for stopping by!

ETA: oops, I forgot to post the semi-tucked top look, added as photo 5.
