I have a great blouse that is floral print in black, purple, turquoise and white, in order of predominant colors. It has a low neckline with a bow that can be tied however, 3/4 sleeves , a slightly fitted but not tight waist and a little bit of a flounce. It is very feminine and extremely comfortable. I put on my silver hoops so I feel like a bit of a gypsy.
I wear this with jeans or a black skirt when I'm feeling a bit funky and want to be comfortable but not show the world that I feel that way.

Oh your poor tooth! Good for you for going to the trouble of posting even when you feel lousy. I reach for knits when I feel bad, so I can really relate to the first outfit. Your vest is really cute and cheeky. As another outfit idea, I'd try it with a button front shirt and jeans. When you're feeling better that is!

I love your question. When I need "comfort food" clothing, I reach for either a comfy waist-surrendering dress (one piece is so easy to throw on; not much to think about) or black ponte knit pants.

I think #1 would look better with a white, rather than beige top, and V or scoop instead of crew. But still slouchy/slubby/uber-casual -- we are talking comfort here! Your ensemble beats sweat pants hands down. Love the loafers!

As for #2, the individual pieces all look great to me, though not sure about the combo.Too dark on top, light on bottom. I want to see a lighter top under the vest, how about a light blue denim top? Denim and brown works nicely together. Or a white top. And vest unbuttoned? We're talking comfort food here! Or no vest.

I go for knits when I need comfort - I have a couple of wrap tops, like giving myself a hug.

I like Aida's advice for #2 - that' a fun outfit. The vest could be more fitted at the waist - does it adjust at all?

I think you need more structure on top with that skirt - love Mo's fitted cardigan. I always go for my jackets in navy when I need a boost:)

Hmm #1 is a little too unstructured for my taste; a blazer or a more structured top OR a silkier top would work better here. Will fully disclose I'm not a casual maxi fan, so I would much prefer this skirt to be midi length on you especially with the leo flats you have on For #2, I don't think the pant width is a problem but if you added another light element on top (scarf, necklace, hat, etc.) that would balance out the lightness. Or a darker pant would also work.

When I need "comfort food" clothing I usually go for super bright

I go for a loose, flowy fit - usually either a maxi skirt or a jersey knit dress. Color is totally secondary to me when comfort is the goal. I myself have made a major shift away from brown, back toward black, since turning 40.

I've noticed that when I need an outfit that's the equivalent of comfort food, I wear brown. Here's two from the past couple of weeks (when I was dealing with an abscessed tooth). Do you reach for a particular color or type of clothes when you need a comfort food type of lift?

#1: I don't think the beige top works. I know that casual maxi skirts aren't super stylish, but this one is just so comfy.....

#2: I'm not sure the pants work. Does the vest/top combo work? Would the pants work with narrower legs?
