Okay, enough of you have mentioned the yellow now that I have to ask:

Really?

I was fairly convinced that the only reason this sweater worked was because I put blue between it and my skin - it seems, to me, too close to my skin color that it washes me out. Do you think it works because of the blue? (I'll see if I can find a pic of me wearing the yellow without the blue to shelter my skin from it)

I do like the outfit, but I felt like it only worked because of the blue....

(ETA: Here I am with yellow next to my skin - it's almost exactly the same shade - anything lighter and I think I look horrid - this is the closest to working. Should I wear it more often?)
What do you think?

Cute little guy....distracted from outfits!

Okay, back to it. No tablecloths at all. However, I think the tops are a bit short I would like to see them hit closer to the hips.

That said, I really like #2 and 3. You look amazing in yellow, and the black white and burgundy is stellar.

Oh, these are all cute, but I do have a special preference for #3. Those boots are very cute.
That boy is very cute as well.

I really enjoy how you put together elements and colours. Those pants in #3 give you such a long line, it looks fantastic! I know that long women's shirts definitely do exist, just be patient and you will find them. Your little boy is adorable!

You are extraordinarily good at crafting really casual, grownup, but colorful outfits. Love your layering, your footwear and your shirts. I agree that tops that are a little longer would be the very best proportion, and I struggle with this, too. No reason to quite wearing these, though.

Brava for getting the kids in the laundry! my DH does this task, although the kids sort, fold and restock. Life skills are as important as trigonometry!

Thanks you all - Missvee, I think your idea is brilliant - when I stopped buying mens shirts, I don't know. But I think it's high time I started shopping in the mens department of thrift stores again - they *are* longer, and I need the length. (They're also less shaped, which is good for me. Many shirts that fit my shoulders are too tight on my apple-tendency tummy).

I like 2&3 best, but agree the shirts are a bit short. With your height have you ever tried men's shirts? If you're just using them as layering pieces then the fit through the body wouldn't be as crucial, and you might get more length. Your helper is adorable btw...

I really like both outfits with the plaid shirts and sweaters. The yellow and blue color combination looks great. I like the red pants with the black sweater. Maybe boot cuts would look better but the red pants look pretty good to me.

Oh, yes, my three year old is very into Mom's daily pics right now It's the girls (right now, anyway - 8 and 6) doing the laundry - they're quite good at it, but not very consistent in guessing which piece belongs to which person. Still, I consider it good training, and I suspect someone will find my jeans sometime soon. I have a dime bounty on them now - will probably raise it to a quarter tomorrow to convince them to actually look in their drawers :)

Good point Kelly about the jacket hiding my blouse. I'll have to come up with some other way to wear it - perhaps I should just wear the blouse alone with olive pants.....

Thanks for the comments!

I like how you created a long line with the blue top/jeans under the cropped sweater in 3. It looks great. I also really love the red/black in 2. I love both of these casual outfits. The colors in 1 are lovely--the jacket kind of hides the pretty blouse though.

Look at little Bob, the Builder, there next to you! How cute and is he the one helping out with laundry? I think your idea of combining color and plaid is a good one and my only suggestion would be that a longer shirt length may give you the look you want. I do like the black and red together and see no Italian restaurant. Also, the blue shirt in pic 1 is very pretty and you look great in yellow (#3), too.

#1: I've been wanting to pair teal and olive again for a while. Here I'm attempting to dress down a teal silk shirt with an army jacket, jeans and work boots. Does it work?

#2: The major disadvantage of teaching kids to do the family laundry is that sometimes your clothes disappear. I really wanted to wear my bootcut jeans with these checks, but couldn't find them. So red jeans it was. Is it okay? Would the blue boot-cuts be better? (I think probably so, I hope they turn up soon).

#3: I had high hopes for this blue plaid with the yellow sweater and boots. I wish the blue plaid was a little longer, and the yellow sweater ended up seeming kinda weird. Still, I felt pretty happy in this.

Overall, I like wearing more colors this week (than last week), and I'm liking the plaids too (although the black plaid with the red made me feel a bit like a tablecloth in an Italian restaurant or something).

Suggestions for improvement?
