Lovely outfit, and I really like those socks, they are very cute. I live on the eastern coast of USA and majority of people of do not require you to remove the shoes inside. However, there were a few cases when it did happen, and it would depend on the host and their culture - once I was asked to do so in household here the lady of the house was Japanese.

Sorry Traci for the late reply! Honestly I'm not sure how they do it in TV shows, I've never thought about that..! I thought I'd look at some Swedish TV shows, but I haven't managed to look at any soaps, there are mostly reality shows nowadays..! But I'll think about it next time I come across one

I love this outfit. This is 100% something I would wear. You're getting me excited for tights weather. Not quite there yet in my neck of the woods.

The indoor shoes thing seems to be regional to a degree. I grew up in the south and for the most part people just wore their shoes inside. When we moved north to a snowy climate, we learned almost everyone removes their shoes. You notice it most with kids who literally start kicking their shoes off the minute they step over the threshold into your home.

I never wear shoes and rarely wear socks at home. My feet tend to run warm, so it's just a comfort thing. It's actually a silly struggle for me when taking outfit pictures, to make sure I include shoes because it's so out of place for me to wear shoes in the house.

Now you've got my curiosity up...Do Swedish tv shoes tend to show people barefoot at home? I always assume tv, even reality tv, is not really reflective of real life. I mean, they all wear beautiful pajamas and wake up looking perfectly coifed and make up'd without a pile of dirty clothes around the bedroom.

Cute outfit. I love how you have bookended your socks with your scarf. We sometimes take our shoes off and sometimes we don't. In the winter we always take our boots off but other times of the year it really depends. I like to wear something on my feet for support but I use to like having barefeet.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I'm glad I've finally found a way to wear these socks..! And it wasn't until I joined YLF that I started thinking about bookending outfits with matching colours - before, I could see that something was off or missing in an outfit, but couldn't really see what it was, when it could be something simple as adding a similar colour..! So THANK YOU Angie again for this community!

And it's so interesting to hear about these differences! Mirjana, that's right, we always take shoes off when being inside, both in our own homes and when visiting others

Growing up in California (don't know if it differed in other places in the U.S.) I never went anywhere where I was expected to remove my shoes before entering. It was an unheard of practice, at least in my community.

My first experience with this practice was my college year abroad in Japan.

However, among my friends, I only have one friend who does it. Or, at least, who asks her guests to do it. Of the others, I don't know what they do themselves when they are alone.

Love your outfit and how you have bookended your adorable socks with that fabulous scarf. Enjoy your dinner event. Nodding along with you on the "no shoes" topic. I live in the USA (Northeast) and we hold to a strict "indoor shoes and slippers ONLY" policy in our house. This is especially important in winter as tracked-in road salt is damaging to our carpets and hardwood floors.

Super cute!! I love the socks with this outfit.

In Canada some households are "shoes off at the door" and some are not -- and in some, it depends on the season. In winter, shoes off; in dry, temperate urban summer, sandals inside might be okay.

In my family we tend not to wear outdoor shoes in the house but it is not a strict rule and sometimes for entertaining I'll leave them on. I usually show shoes in my outfit photos but that doesn't mean I'm wearing them in the house. I have house shoes and slippers.

You are as cute as a button, Karin. Glad you sorted your outfit SANS footwear.

Here is the US it runs the gamut. Shoes on or off in the house depends on the people.

Our little family is going to a friend for dinner tonight, very casual and relaxed.

Had a similar dress like this a few years ago and have really missed it after it got too worn out, but today I bought this one! Super simple but it has still been hard to find one I like! Wearing it with a scarf with some blue in, and blue knee socks scrunched down. Love the socks (colour and details) and I've had them for ages but have never really found good ways to wear (made a failed attempt a while ago if anyone remembers that post, hope not..!), but I think this could be OK?

Showing without shoes since that's how I'll wear it tonight. Is that a cultural thing? In Sweden we NEVER wear shoes at home (unless it's specific indoor slippers/shoes), but hearing people who've lived in the US, or watching all American TV shows, hehe, it seems quite common to keep shoes on..?
