Better the timer than the backdrop, WL! I take a lot of photos from my shop, so I have a tripod I use for my timer pics.

I love your bookshelf backdrop, and I've often used our bookshelves in the same manner, but I finally figured out a place I can use my camera with a timer, but it requires the phone to sit on the bookshelf, alas!

Thanks Lucy! The bookcase is a built-in that covers one whole wall of my home office/studio. Here's a zoomed-out view for you. It's probably my favorite place in the house. :)

Brooklyn - I wouldn't have been able to handle a scarf if it were a few degrees warmer or if I were somewhere more humid, but it was mostly fine yesterday. This one's lightweight, and I take it off around the house and pop it on when I go out.

I like layering formula #2. I'll have to give it a try next week; SoCal right now has a similar temperature differential.

I've had good luck with tanks similar to the purple top in the first find below; they're fitted above and then have drape and architecture at the waist. The material is also a rather substantial jersey, which leads to better draping and no clinging. I've also had good luck with tanks with what I'll call "faux drape", as shown in the second find. The tank itself is fitted, but there's a gorgeous silk over layer on the front that provides the illusion of drape.

Both versions are super yummy! Does that black cardi have brown buttons? If so, what a lovely detail.

I actually think the fitted shape of the tank is incredibly flattering on you, and is a classic look, which you've 'modernised' with the trousers, so wear it with pride.

I do much better in fitted (either the 'tailored' fitted Angie talks about or straight up body con) than relaxed/oversized knits too, especially the tee/tissue types of jersey, which manage to make me look like a box with mosquito bites for a chest. *shudder* When I wear flowy or relaxed fits, it's with wovens instead!

Suz - I love that tank! On the model, at least. The similar ones I've tried on flow nicely until they get to my hips and then, instead of continuing to flow down, get caught on my ample curves and bunch up. I'm feeling a bit shopped out recently, but I'll take the search up again in the spring. I suspect it's just a matter of finding the right cut.

Ha, what Laura said about the colours. I really enjoy seeing them, all the more since I can't wear them.

This is a great formula! I really like this outfit and you look terrific in it. Yes, a flowy tank might be more current, but this works.

A woven or partially woven tank will cling less. The Find below is old and from Zara (where sizing can be iffy) but this gives you the idea. I wear these things like t-shirts. They go in the wash on delicate, and hang to dry. I do usually need to press lightly after washing. But only the front portion.

Cute! I always love your color schemes, maybe because they are colors that don't suit me at all.

You're right that a flowy-er tank would be more current, but it is hard to get right when you have our kind of figure (hope you don't mind me putting myself in the same category as you!) because things tend to cling to the bigger parts, and anything too baggy makes one look chunky and bigger than one actually is, and it's a fine line to achieve flowy but not loose. Fitted is actually easier because it's straightforward and works with a variety of fabric weights and types.

High near 90° this afternoon, with 60s first thing in the AM, so I tried another layering formula.

This is chinos with a close-fitting tank and cardigan for the morning. For the afternoon, I removed the cardigan and added a scarf for more coverage. Note: In theory, this would be more current and flattering with a relaxed/flowy tank, right? I've probably tried on twenty different relaxed tanks and they all seem to cling in horrible and ridiculous ways. I finally decided I'm working with what I have in my closet.

Wearing: LOFT ochre chinos, black Target tank, black Eddie Bauer cardigan, black/white Old Navy infinity scarf, taupe Frye oxfords
