<p>You have such a way with words E, and well, with outfits too!&nbsp; Love the colors here, so soft and pretty. I have a similar pair of jeans so taking notes here on colors to combine them with.

<p><div>Thnx Ceit!</div><div><br /></div><div>Sarah, could it be seasonal? I barely wear knit tops when it's hot out, to the point that I think maybe I should purge my tees/sweaters, and then in the fall/winter suddenly I wear them all the time.</div><div><br /></div><div>Caro, thnx!</div><div><br /></div><div>Marley, you're so sweet, I'm glad the grey works. I've been getting better at darning, but I'm not expert enough to make invisible mends on very smooth knits yet. I figure practice makes perfect!</div><div><br /></div><div>MG, that's so funny. My sister came to visit once when I was wearing these &amp; when I opened the door she thought I was pantless for a moment too! I want to see your sweater clips. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>RwD, oh how neat! This one isn't as decorate as a lot of the ones I've seen. I bet your sister looked adorable in them.</div><div><br /></div><div>Suz, thank you, both for your comments &amp; the inspiration!</div><div><br /></div><div>Joy, thnx!</div><div><br /></div><div>Alexandra, you know, sometimes I worry about skirt hems showing all of my knee cap, some days I just go for broke and decide to rock the no pants look. ;)</div><div><br /></div><div>Ornella, your comments give me such a boost! They're so kind and thoughtful and precise. I will definitely keep doing the close ups, as they allow me to be a bit more photograph-y about the whole thing.</div><div><br /></div><div>Diane, thank you!</div><div><br /></div><div>Lisa, I don't think it would have occurred to be with Suz's 'bon bons' dancing in my head. :)</div>

<p>I second Ornella. I love the close-ups as much as the full length shots. This is another delightful outfit E. I love the proportions of cardigan and blouse. And what a fab idea the clip is on your cardigan too.

<p>E, with your&nbsp;each thread I'm more confused what to do first - to look or to read. It's quite a dilemma, you know :-D&nbsp;When I decide&nbsp;to first read, I don't want to look at the photos until the end, as I want the image, feel and textures&nbsp;of the outfit all painted in my head with words. Then I compare it with what I see.&nbsp;When I look first, I then keep switching between text and photos to see all those details you mention, and it gives me so much joy to read what and why gets selected - but I always get&nbsp;surprised just how many layers (pun intended)&nbsp;there are to your choices and your creativity.</p>
<p>Your findings are so interesting: "...<span><i>when I'm pairing more frou-frou colours, I seem to default to my trouser silhouette rather than my skirt one.</i>" There is something in this realisation&nbsp;that (I feel)&nbsp;reveals some of my own inclinations with wardrobe choices, now I have a 'template' to look at them through. Thank you.</span></p>
<p>The close-ups are so delightful. I just looked back through your recent WIWs (Macaroon included, plus I have completely missed that Ballet one before) and I think you have a great way of painting the whole outfit through them alone.&nbsp;Please keep them as the signature content of your WIWs ;-)&nbsp;

<p>You have such a way with words. And that cardigan clip deserves to go down in the annals of YLF cool accessories.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I think the plaid moderates the girly cut of the top and the pink of the pants just perfectly. As MuseumGal said, it's all perfectly in keeping with your quirky, original style.&nbsp;</p>
<p>And thank you for taking me up on the challenge. I will look forward to further delicious instalments!&nbsp;

<p>Ok I glanced at the thumbnails before reading your description and Pic 3 just shows shoulders to knees, and I thought, Oh dear, is she going for a babydoll shortie look?!&nbsp; That's an awfully short dress even for Lyra!&nbsp; Then I saw the complete pic and that you were clearly wearing pants and laughed at myself.&nbsp; <br />Despite the pinks, I don't actually think this looks particularly girly, but in keeping with your usual gamine-urchin style.&nbsp; The grey cashmere cardigan is beautiful, and I love the sweater clips.&nbsp; I have vintage ones too that I should deploy one of these days ...

<p>Ohhhhh - love those pale pink pants!&nbsp; And, the color combo of the plaid with the pink is just lovely.&nbsp; Also, the gray is a nice added touch - I can see how white would have looked good too, but I really like the gray - and I am so impressed that you were able to mend the sweater!&nbsp; I would have not ever thought of that - of course, even if I <i>had</i> thought of it, that's as far as it would have gone, because I have no idea how to mend holes in knits!&nbsp; I know what you mean&nbsp;about pairing your frou-frou items with a trouser silhouette.&nbsp; Its kind of like what Sheree was talking about yesterday (Inge's blog post) about how she likes to pair girly with rock n' roll!&nbsp; I think it makes the outfit so much more interesting.

<p>On my unintentional macaroon post, Suz suggested I do a 'bon bon' series, which made me smile. So here's the second! Clearly in my mind pink jeans=sugary desserts. These are my blush skinnies, they're palest pink and much truer in colour to the close up than the kind of peachy tone in the outfit shot (they don't look peach at all in real life). I actually began with the purple &amp; pink plaid top; I love lightweight, swingy blouses and this one called out to me as I was getting dressed. I wear waist surrendering tops with slim bottoms, and with Suz's suggestion in my head, I then picked the pink skinnies (they have a slightly lower rise for me, at 9",&nbsp;and thus I need to make sure the top I pair them with is long enough) whereas my usual impulse would probably be to temper the girly top colours with a more serious trouser. </p>
<p>To finish things off and keep me warm (the blouse is sleeveless), I wish I'd had a soft white/off white cardigan, but instead I chose the closet option with this light grey cashmere number. When I thrifted this it still had its tags on but looked as if someone's dog had gotten ahold of it; quite a few holes in a kind of random pattern! Luckily I enjoy darning and the little cable pattern made it easy to conceal the mending. I wanted the cardigan to have a bit of an a-line shape but it's not quite&nbsp;a crewneck, so I used my vintage&nbsp;sweater clip &amp; some folding to get closer to how I wanted it to look. My feet were cold so I added my lightest socks to keep them warm and that was that! I didn't make it out for a walk that day (Tuesday) so no outerwear post.</p>
<p>I find it interesting that when I'm pairing more frou-frou colours, I seem to default to my trouser silhouette rather than my skirt one. Partly it's because I don't have many coloured skirt options, but I suspect it's also a question of balance.</p>
<p>Comments and suggestions always welcome.
