It's always a good idea to assess why an outfit makes you happy! Life is about being happy, right? :)

I prefer a bootie cut that's close to my ankle too, and laces are one way to achieve this fit. Are those black suede booties? How do you feel about tucking away your bowed laces? I think that will streamline the look quite a bit.

Nice outfit!

I am with you on the concept of a fitted ankle! Hard to find even in a lace up boot, let alone a zipper bootie. The footwear, combined with the skirt and sweater top, make this a stylish look. The shoes and dark tights make this work outfit interesting, but not so interesting as to emit a "crazy woman" vibe when walking down the hall. If that makes any sense. :-)

(And I have I told you how much I love your name "unfrumped"? It lightens my day!)

Here is an outfit that I wore last week while still having black tights weather. The cashmere sweater is slim and fitted, but is worn under lab coat, so that adds a lot of volume and some shoulders. When wearing sans coat, I have been aiming for boxier tops.

What is new is that I’m wearing my Madden Girl low-heeled tie boot that I originally expected only to wear with pants. I got them as kind of a fill-in even though they are faux leather, as I needed something very low for some of my winter pants that are hemmed too short for anything higher.

I guess these are a bit like the old desert boots, but they have a slim fit and oval-almond toe. Compared to my Prizzze booties, the shaft fits much closer to my ankle. That is the kind of fit I was trying to find in a true “bootie” but so far have not. So I got brave and wore them with a skirt as a cross between a bootie and an oxford.

The tie factor may not be ideal, but I like the look of the closer fit a lot. Also the heel is very low and has a rubbery sole so that I feel like I’m wearing tennis shoes and am able to stride down the halls at a rapid pace with no clattering noise.

This outfit had a high happiness factor and so I’m trying to take note of the elements that made it so and replicate those while still trying to improve the look. Suggestions for improving the look or other options for similar "happiness" factors welcome.
