Great save on the skirt, no need for a itchy top. The combination is a winner.

Congrats on rescuing a closet orphan - that skirt looks fantastic on you! I'm excited to see it with other tops since you're purging this one. If it's not comfortable, all the time, it's definitely not worth keeping.

First of all, I just have to thank you for that phrase "urban titanium." Tame old taupe will never be the same again! I now have urban titanium as one of my key neutrals. How fitting for an urban prince, don't you agree?

In the meantime, what a fun skirt! I love it. I am sorry the top caused you annoyance but it was a fun pattern mix and worth trying with a better version.

"Selectively itchy" is another great phrase. I have sweaters like that. No wonder we tend not to reach for them.

So funny about your bedroom colours! It's amazing how we sometimes can't see what's in front of our own noses -- even when we created it!

Congrats on figuring out why the top didn't work. And if you think it's doing that, then it needs to go! I'm glad you're keeping the skirt though. It looks great. And nice job on your guest room!

Love the skirt and bag (and the guest bedroom). Defiitely ditch a tee that creates droopy boobs!

Cool skirt! I don't think that you look droopy at all, but if you don't feel fab in the top, then it's time to say bye-bye.

Maybe try mixing the skirt with a top that has a smaller pattern? To me, I feel like the Breton stripe competes with the bold pattern on the skirt. I wonder if some small polka dots on a shirt would be a good match? (Note that I don't pattern mix myself, so I might be off base.)

I love your bedroom! Really gorgeous. Great colors and textures.

I really like that skirt and would never have thought to top with stripes but it really works on you. And the bag is fab with all of the outfit.

That is a fun patterned combo and I agree that the skirt is awesome. The striped tee is nice but it is good to let it go for the reasons you describe. I like the pop of dark red with neutrals.
Your bedroom is gorgeous! When I was in grad school, I went through a phase when all my bedding and most of apartment decorations was burgundy. It was fun, and then at some point I got sick of it. I have sto eggplant since.

Both of these pieces were set to be purged - and they were folded on top of each other, and I looked at them together, and thought, hmmmm. I'm a big fan of Wendy's Lookbook, and she frequently does pattern mixing. And when I saw Angie's post of color combinations that went with dark red, I knew what I wanted to do today.

I wore this top in a previous WIW, and I have not been able to pinpoint what it is about this top that bothers me. This is my favorite type of Breton stripe - but I just don't love this top. Today, I figured it out. It makes my bosoms look droopy-er. And the fabric is selectively scratchy - some days it is fine, other days it is borderline irritating. I can live with scratchy... I cannot live with droopy! Vanity, vanity. After today, it's getting purged.

But the skirt is staying. I'm going to mix it with some other patterns

Once I was dressed and out the door, I didn't think about this outfit again, other than feeling happy with my choices

The last two photos are a sort of bonus, to show you just how obtuse I am. I asked Angie in her previous post, "what can you wear with dark red that looks fresh?" She suggested white & aqua blue. I walked into my spare bedroom to take this picture, and realized... I already had done that. Well, more teal than aqua. But still... I had a good laugh.
