Even I tried on olive cargo pants yesterday! Something about these pants really "grounds" a look -- the earthy color, plus the modern fit and styling, adds comfort and edge simultaneously. Love the look, and it's a great way to make the most of your closet items.

I am on team this does work. I really like the high vamped shoes with a bit of skin and the juxtaposed hemlines.

I like this a lot, my only suggestion might be to try cuffing the pants, With those booties, I think I'd like to see more skin.

Hmmmm, not sure why this find attached itself to this post, please ignore.

Appreciate your keen eye Aida - I like the "disconnect" between the hem of the tank and the straight hem of the blazer.

I think the top and jacket work quite nicely together; quite like the interesting hemline peeking out from beneath a corporate blazer. The interesting shape of the bootie front adds a little more extra hemline-type interest, too. I don't find the pants would need to be necessarily sleek; these work, and a sleeker pant would also work

Another killer look. Loving the drapey hem peeking out from under the jacket. Cargoes are a great juxtaposition, and the sliver on foot skin is delish.

Aaaahhhhhh...the power of the YLF wisdom I think you're all onto something here. I think in theory the outfit works, but not quite in practice. Because of the "showy" hemline of the tank, I think the pants need to be sleeker and without the hip pockets that these cargo pants have. I'm going to try the tank/jacket combo again with my slim leg black EF pants and a more delicate shoe and see if that works.

Thanks for your keen eyes ladies!

ETA: Cross posted with you Sara! Yep, there's something about the combination that isn't quite working and this is why I adore feedback - it's how I learn. Thank you.

I just to want to start off with I think this outfit is fine. You look perfectly acceptable. However, I agree with others that it's not my favorite and I think it has something to do with the tank and the blazer. I think the outfit would look good without the blazer for a more casual weekend look. I really like the neutral colors and I enjoy seeing you remix your pieces. I'm constantly remixing and enjoy seeing how others work with their wardrobes.

Cool tank, great jacket....and I think it would look even more interesting and play up the hem of the top if the bottom (pants, skirt, ) were more fitted/sleeker. There is something about the top against the pants that is throwing me off. I love the top underneath the jacket so - ponte slim pants, tube skirt, something like that? Hey, now we all need an olive green tube skirt, now that would be cool!

Okay, well I love the top and jacket together and agree that it's a nice mix of soft plus structure. I'm wondering if another option might be to pair them with a simple slim pant, black or small pattern maybe.
The clutch and jewelry are perfect finishing touches.
I'm a serial repeater myself so I appreciate your remixes very much :-).

I like the idea of this a lot Shannon, but to be perfectly honest I'm not crazy about the way the two hemlines work together. The tank seems to curvy for the more angular jacket. I think Cheryle is on to something... if you did semi-tuck the top, it might alleviate what I'm seeing.

Cheryle - just to clarify the top is completely untucked here. This is the natural shape of the hemline.

I think this definitely works. I love the strict blazer and the unstructured top combo and the necklace is just perfect here.

Shannon, we must be developing a psychic connection. I am sitting here putting together my outfit and had olive cargo pants, an off white top, and a jacket that would likely be black in the plan.

I think the outfit works but would also like to see it with the top tucked a bit more across the front so it drapes at the sides and also untucked completely under the jacket. Nice look. :)

I figured you must all be getting quite sick and tired of seeing my same items over and over - such is the reality of a small wardrobe But today I pulled out a summer tank I purchased last year to add to some of my old favourite pieces and added a bit of jewelry to spruce things up a bit.

My outfit started with my dark green olive cargo pants to which I added my light grey oh-so-soft and comfy drapey asymmetrical tank. This top has the coolest hemline that's curved and asymmetrical. I then reined in the volume of the tank and "corporate-ized" the outfit with my trusty black blazer. For footwear I went with my ancient Clarks shooties (bare footed but I have my Chelsea boots in my bag to take to work because it's supposed to snow later in the day).

Accessories include my black patent clutch - the sharp angles give the outfit more structure - my 50th birthday long silver pendant, a chunky gunmetal cuff, red specs and red lipstick.

Over to you fine ladies - what do you think? Do the tank and blazer work together? I kind of like how the hem of the tank peeks out here and there underneath the blazer - or does it look off? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Nygard
Tank: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Pants: Ricki's
Shoes: Clarks
Clutch: Danier Leather (thrifted)
