You had a fab week in black and white! #4 just jumps right off the screen at me, soooo good!! I like the first outfit best with the jacket for some additional lightness as in #3, it balances the exposed legs better to my eye; without the jacket I think those sleeves need to be rolled or pushed up to balance that out. For #6, I agree with JJ that a shorter shirt OR shorter jacket would better balance the proportions. In #7 I think the gray oxfords would better balance the darkness on top, or else perhaps a lighter top underneath the jacket. LOVE those neon laces! And I like everything about #9, arty fabulous!

ooooh such fun week with B&W. I think #6 and 9 are the only one that I think the proportions are not right but all the others are great looks. esp #3 is super fab.

Great job experimenting with your black and white looks! I love #1 #2 #3 #4 and #5. In #6 I think something is a bit off maybe with the proportions. I feel that the shirt is perhaps a bit long under the jacket.
#7 is a great casual look and I like the pop of neon. If the sweater had been semi tucked you could have added a neon belt too. I'm not really feeling the love for #9 as I think a shorter skirt looks better with cropped leggings. It would probably help with proportions, which seem a little off to me. I hope this all makes sense.

I'm blown away by #3 - totally my favorite!!! I like the column of whites too. I think there is a little too much length on the shirt in #6 for the jacket for my taste. I love the neon laces in the shoes. #9 loses me with the leggings probably due to adding one more horizontal line and the skirt is long enough not to need them. I like the pattern mix - very bold to combine these.

Happy Friday YLF'ers!

I have been pinning a lot of black and white looks lately and adding more graphic B&W patterns is one of my 2013 style goals. This week I decided to have a little black and white challenge week to get some wear out of mostly new-to me-ish B&W items. I'll try to keep the commentary short. (ETA: I think I failed to keep it short!)

1-3: Monday. Felt like things works pretty well. Drapey shirt de-bombed pencil formula.

4-5: Tuesday. When I found this creamy white leather jacket I thought it wouldn't work with white jeans but with the cream and black pinpoint polka dot shirt I feel it does. Thanks Angie for teaching me to it is okay to mix whites.

6: Wednesday. This one was 50 iterations that didnt work. Ended up using jeans b/c I couldnt get any other bottoms to work. Not thrilled with the end result. Ended up french braiding my hair. Need a hair cut. Ugh!

7-8: Thursday: Tried the 80's style bottom button to disguise the under shirt feeling a bit short. Felt "cool" in real life but not sure in the photos. Was planning on my gray oxfords but DH needed me to walk our property with an arborist and I wanted washable shoes for the ensuing muddy mess potential. Added neon yellow shoe laces to my oatmeal boat shoes b/c I love the two colors together and the boat shoes were feeling plain and not getting much wear. I think it works?

9: Friday: This feel much less busy IRL. And the sweater isnt pulled down quite so tight now that I have moved around. Tryng leggings under a slimmer skirt based upon forum posts this week. DH said I look "fabulously stylish this morning".

After the week of black and white I am excited to get some brights going. I like the graphic black and whites, but after the week have confirmed I am also a color gal at heart.

Intent for this post.... Feedback to improve/repeat outfits: What are your favorites? What works or doesn't work proportion wise? Restyling ideas? (esp 6 and 7 seem to need improvement to my eye)

Thanks for reading and offering suggestions!
