They are layered on top of each other and then folded diagonally - the classic fold before you tie it. First, you just take the two folded scarves and make a single knot in the middle. Then you wrap the scarves around your neck and tie the two scarves at the back and arrange so the knot would not be visible. Then, adjust the knot in the front of the scarf (the one you made first) to make it broader or narrower according to own taste and preference. I have made a rather wide knot in this outfit to play a bit with pattern.
