Darn! The outfit looks so good ... But the bunching and fussing would annoy me too.

Looks good! But I can just imagine how annoying it would be and feel to deal with slipping and adjusting the layers.

I like the idea of layering the cardigan over an open shirt. It creates some interesting lines, but I agree with Marley and Deborah that a wider belt might work better. I hate fussy outfits too and that's one reason I don't usually wear belts over sweaters - they never stay looking right.

I think this looks good, but comfort has to be a factor too and I hate fussing with clothies. The belt is very thin! I cannot see a buckle. I am kind of wanting to see a wider belt, not too wide but maybe 3 or 4 cm width.

I think it would be an easy fix - longer cardigan and a more substantial belt (one that is wider!)

It looks really good on you. But I can easily imagine the frustrations of the tug and pull thing. I wonder if there are ways to tweak it so that's not such an issue. Interesting challenge!

bj, I really like this look and am wondering if the middle layer was a bit textured if it would help to minimize the pieces moving. I thought of this because I have a tank that seems to almost cling to other items. Normally that isn't a great characteristic in clothes but for this type of layering it could solve the problem.

@Claire, yup, a longer cardigan would have worked better. this exercise was more to take an existing piece and try to update it. from that standpoint it was a success. all pieces were old to super-old except for the ssif booties.

@Angie, i liked it best with the shirt open and creating another vertical line but the shirt and the sweater independently kept slipping more open unless i really tightened the belt which introduced bunchiness. also by the end of the day, the belt felt snug due to the traveling pooch (another post subject!) i really like the idea, the tugging and adjusting was a bit annoying (and drafty). i will try to revisit with a different shirt or underlayer...i do have a pile of other orphans i'm trying to update.

Gorgeous. Did the layers stay in place? Why will you not be repeating - did the combination feel off?

You were ahead of the curve! I like the lines created by the open shirt, it's an interesting look. Have you figured out what made you feel ambivalent about it? I imagine you copied the pin exactly, but maybe you'd like it better with a long cardigan? Just an idea.

from two weekends ago. living the "get dressed everyday" dream. inspired by an angie pin. trying to update a grandpa cardigan.

not superfab. comfy for a day. unlikely to repeat.
