It's always great seeing a weeks worth of outfits from you Tanya, very inspirational. I'm so glad you choose to "catch up" rather than just say forget it. I think my favs are 1, 10,11. Funny, very different than Angies

Isn't it funny how you don't realize a trend in dressing until you look at a series of outfits? I always go through a phase with pulling the same handful of colors for a little while for my outfits. Those are really fun silver shoes in #13 and they pair quite well with the puffer coat too.

Thank you ladies, you are very kind! Early/warmer fall is my favorite season for dressing as one can do all sorts of interesting layers while it is still not freezing.

Kellygirl, you are very sweet, thank you!

Suz, that is a such a spot-on analysis. I definitely do not view those plaid pants as statement, their contrast is too low for it.

Shevia, such lovely words. Good to hear that the supporting acts are doing their job well.

Joy, thank you. I love booties (as if it weren't obvious), they make so much sense for my lifestyle.

Neel, interesting observation about the pants. No, theya r not too roomy, but it may very well be that they are not flattering. This might require a separate blog post to figure it out.

Aww, Jackiec, you are making me blush, thanks so much!

Thank you Angie. That is interesting about booties being statements, though I can see it. I tend to think of simple cleaner styles as essentials but of course I may be wrong. The ones in #1 are definitely E's, as I wear them only when I need some non-noticeable footwear to blend with an outfit.

Another amazing set of outfits. I tend to think of ALL your footwear as Statements. *Maybe* the booties in #1 are Essentials - do you use them in that way?

#2, 3, 13 and 14 are my best. Killer looks and new puffer. xo

Wow Tanya. You know I love your WIWs. You have so many fantastic pieces, and you are so creative with your outfits. I must admit I literally gasped when I saw you in that zipper pullover in #8. You could be a model for the sweater. Well done. You are inspiring me to try to get my cropped sweater look done right -- I need to take notes from you. Everything is fab. Thanks for sharing

I agree with everything that Suz said about the plaid skinnies. Statements are so personal! I have too many statements in my closet ... But for me .. They work just like regulars! I always think of annagybe in these discussions. Everything she wears looks like a statement to me ... But I am sure they would categorize as regular for her because it is so much a part of her style.

You have had a fantastic week. And I think these are all lovely. 6/7 does seem a little different from your regular outfits ... I wonder if the pants are a bit too roomy hips down? They look like relaxed skinny ankle pants which I am not sure is a flattering look on anyone! How do you feel about it? The layering up top looks lovely ... So I don't think its that.

There is lots of inspiration here. Thank you for posting your outfits. Both the high contrast and soft tones are beautiful on you. I especially like the plaid jeans outfits, and you have an enviable bootie collection.

Love so many of these pieces and outfits Tanya! The top in #4, the mixed media vest, and the sweater in #8 are all terrific. They are all statements, which is why I am noticing them, but they work so well because your essentials are doing their job.

Tanya, these are wonderful, current outfits. I think your classification is right on. It is interesting that you and I both consider the Kut plaid skinnies to be "regulars" whereas Una feels hers are a "statement." I think they probably ARE more of a statement for her, proving that context and personal style play into our definitions here.

For you and me, with our fair colouring, they read, essentially, as a "dark" jean. The pattern doesn't jump out because it is low contrast.

But they "harmonize" with Una's colouring even better and "bookend" with her hair. So you'd think that would make them LESS "statement'-like" rather than more on her. But I think she is right -- they are a statement in her closet.

The plaid is more of a departure from her usual style than it is for us. You and I both prefer solids but use pattern judiciously -- and neither of us is against a hit of preppy now and again. Una also loves plaid, but her usual pattern choices tend to be a bit more hard-edged. These jeans hardly qualify as a wild card for her (that would be more her Ted Baker floral tee) -- yet they're just a tiny bit out of her usual range, and anything we wear that is like that feels and probably looks like a statement.

It's a fascinating business.

Anyway -- love that we are twice over jeans twins (Kuts, Racers) -- feel SUPER tempted now by the AT vest, which I think looks spectacular on you!! -- I only wish I had your extra few inches of height.... and I really like #6 as well. It is hard for me to make out the layering on my laptop, but I really like the idea of a low contrast with cropped sweater.

I'm terrible at the essential/statement categorizing so I'll leave that to others. I adore your WIWs and whatever combination they are, they definitely work and make an impression! Love the sporty vibe of 1. The footwear is fun and unexpected. White jacket is gorgeous! Love the colorblocked top in 4. 8 is soft and classic. So pretty on you especially with the purple coat. LOVE 10--that vest is awesome! I think 6 works--it's hard to tell in the photo it is actually layered. I'm sure it was more noticeable IRL. Looks smashing to me! Gorgeous outfits, as usual, Tanya!

I have three weeks worth of backlogged outfits, so starting the clearing with outfits from last week. The beginning of the week was mild but then it it got super cold towards the end, so cold I needed a puffer. Looks like winter is coming! When looking through these photos together I see a theme: lots of layers in white, black and shades of blue. I am still including statements/essentials analysis, mainly to make sure I got it all right, so please tell me if I made a mistake.

#1, Monday work - an outfit that consists of essentials only: white pleather moto, black/white striped sweater, light wash straight jeans and light tan/taupe flat ankle booties.

#2/3, Tuesday work- layers with very cropped top. The black top is ponte with tiny little white dots. Not quite sure what category it falls into, so i will call it a statement because of the super cropped length. The white silk blouse, light wash BF jeans and pointy black booties are all essentials. The light blue leather moto is a statement, I guess, mainly due to the color.

#4/5, Wednesday work - the light blue/black color blocked blouse with long pleated back is definitely a statement. Black tuxedo skinnies are an essential and the black ankle-straps shoes statement.

#6/7, Thursday work - an experiment in layering, curious to know if it worked as I am not sure about it. I layered a cropped black ponte short-sleeved top ( a regular?) over black silk burnout Equipment blouse ( another regular?), with back/white houndstooth ankle pants (S). Finished with simple black pointy booties (E) and black cocoon mixed media coat (S).

#8/9, Friday work - this was based on ensemble of the day. It includes light blue zipper sweater (S) worn over cream silk blouse (E) and grey bootcut pants (E). Outfit was finished with taupe/grey booties (R) and medium-purple coat (S).

#10, Saturday errands - a statement mixed media navy vest, worn with bunch of essentials; black merino turtleneck, medium-wash skinnies and flat black booties.

#11, Saturday evening, watching a dance performance - black cashmere cowl neck sweater (E), grey plaid skinnies (R), black cutout booties (S) and new grey puffer (S).

#12, Sunday errands - chunky blush sweater (S?), with simple skinnies (E), silver booties (S) and grey puffer (S)..
