Great fixing! Foot petals have helped me too. I vote keep & wear the sandals. They look really nice.

Very clever trick with the skirt! I remembered now why I don't like wrap skirts...
I think sandals look fine. If they are comfortable - wear them and enjoy!

Kim, thanks for the rec for foot petals. I'll definitely give them a try!

That skirt is adorable! I'm glad you were able to save it. As for the shoes- If the foot petals don't do the trick you could try a bit of moleskin on the underside to make the fit a bit more snug without it irritating your toes.

Oh, so frustrating about the sandals. I would try the Footpetals for a possible fix. I had a pair of sandals that did this to me and it drove me so crazy I eventually consigned them. I loved them, too. And like yours, they fit just fine as long as I didn't move. They were actually the subject of one of my earliest posts here. "Can these shoes be saved?" I hope someone is loving them now.

The skirt looks great, and I love your hair!!

Terrific skirt fix, and what a fab and beautiful skirt on you!!

The shoes do look a bit too small to me, but I really am not sure on this. I know my feet move a little bit in my shoes when I walk, but no toes over the leather. It would drive me nuts!!

Love the skirt fix! Funny how it takes revving up and some energy to do simple things, but the, voila.

I have a low tolerance for toes hanging over the edge of shoes--it bothers me while walking 'cause I can feel the edge. However I have the same low-volume foot problem, and so that means lots of delicious-looking sandals are a no-go. I sympathize on how limiting that is for sandal options, and that being practical may necessary or you'll never have sandals. I jumped on my Naya sandals because of the slimmer fit though the forefoot as well as being not too high.

I had some Danskos in which my foot slid forward and I solved it by inserting some "foot petals" in the soles. I bought at Target but you can buy similar at many stores. These particular petals are heart shaped and you cannot see them when you have the shoes on; there's a little stickum on the bottom that hold them to the insole. I use these foot petals (brand name but there are others out there) in a lot of shoes to eliminate the sliding factor. You might try them. I find them ever so useful.

Angie, the heel slides forward too. I know the toe box is too wide, but when I buy sandals where the toe box actually fits, they rub the tops of my toes and the side of my bunion. Sigh... fussy feet. So I guess I'd rather have a bit of toe overhang than blisters.

The sandals do look a little short if your toes hang over like that while the heel is in the right place. If the heel shifts too, it's a question of a too wide toe box.

Creative fix on the skirt! You look super cute :)

I wouldn't notice the slight overhang of your toes while you were moving. That's too much to notice at once. I would be more likely to notice while you were standing or sitting and they fit fine then. Cute skirt!

Ha, Ceit, they're never touching the ground. There's an inch of platform in the way. If my feet were actually touching the ground, they would be in the trash. Because city sidewalks/asphalt? Gross.
You're right though. I think probably nobody notices but me and that's because I'm looking directly down at my feet and nobody else would have that angle of sight.

Yay for white T again! And super alterations on the skirt.

I don't think the sandal thing would bother me. If your toes are hanging over and touching the ground all the time, perhaps yes, but in motion only, and fixed at rest? No biggie.

I've had this skirt in my closet for years, and I love the fabric, colors, shape and print. However, it was rather poorly designed as a wrap skirt without enough overlap so I was always having to hold it closed in any sort of breeze, arrange it just so when I sat down, etc. Plus, the waistband is super slippery so the ties tend to slip down and around all the time. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out that I could make two tiny alterations and fix all that! All I did was to sew the bottom of the wrap closed (to make it into a faux wrap), leaving just enough open at the top to be able to put on the skirt, and add a hook and eye at the waist to hold it shut without having to rely on the slippery ribbon tie, and voila! Now the skirt is wearable!

I also have a question about the shoes. They are my Dansko sandals that I haven't worn at all this summer yet. I do like the way they look on my feet, but I wonder if they look too small. My toes slide forward when I walk as I've tried to show you on my right foot in the close-up. The left foot is how the shoe fits at rest. So the footbed is not actually too short, but appears so. All sandals with separate front bands tend to do this to some extent on me because of my low volume feet. In any case, I wouldn't want the fronts to be tighter (which I think is the only way to stop my feet from sliding forward in this style of shoe) because then they will rub the tops of my toes. Anyway, does this look terrible? Keep in mind it only happens when I walk, not when I'm sitting or standing. Do you notice the fit of feet in shoes on people when they're walking, or more when they're at rest?

My Naot platforms and my Born ankle strap shoes both do the foot sliding thing too, by the way, but both are actually slightly too long for my foot so the overhang when my foot slides is not as much as on these.

I am wearing: Gap tee, Anthro skirt, and Dansko sandals
