That's interesting about pumpkins. My husband is from Texas and his family makes sweet potato pie. Because the spices are the same, it tastes just like pumpkin pie. Until I moved there I had never had it. I also had never had cornbread dressing. My mother's family is originally from New England, so our Thanksgiving menu is probably still influenced by that area.</p> <p>ETA: on the local news they're reporting that the interstate is closed in both directions due to snow. Early in the week a storm was predicted for Wednesday, and they had to drive over a mountain pass to get here. Fortunately, they had no problems. My 92 YO mother is still recovering from her terrible fall this summer, but was game to make the trip.</p> <p>1. WIW - What I Wore - jeans, Black Watch shirt, striped tee, and slippers. My outfit was covered with a red chef's apron most of the day. I don't think I went outside all day.</p> <p>WWA - What We Ate<br /> 2. The turkey at 3 hours - at 19 pounds, it took 5 hours.<br /> 3. Gravy in progress<br /> 4. Sweet potato casserole ( no marshmallows!)<br /> 5. Cranberry sauce in progress<br /> 6. Pumpkin pie<br /> 7. Fall leaves made from leftover pie crust. I forgot to serve them! :(<br /> 8-9. Our meal as served</p> <p>I ended up making a spinach salad with blue cheese, dried cranberries and candied pecans. </p> <p>I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. </p>
