Love #1 with the scarf & agree with cjh about accessorising. I'm not so sure about #3 I understand the round the house/warmth aspect though.

CJ, daydreaming is good. I hadn't even thought to try to spice it up, to tell the truth. It's just what happened when I took the scarf off. ;o) I guess the scarf was the spice, but it's fun to think of other ways of doing it.

Angie, I liked #1 best too. That's why I put it first, LOL! Thanks.

And thank you to everyone else. I will wear this scarf fearlessly for a couple of more years then, before I feel obliged to check again.

Yes, I like the white sweater - it's cozy and clean looking. Can you try leaving the bottom button or two undone and adding as slim belt? Maybe a light tan or gold leather? Just to give you a waist and give a bit more "dashing" effect? Or a necklace? Something that is neutral (large chunky beads), same color as sweater? and falling midway between bottom of neck and top of "bosom" area? Just daydreaming here.

CJ, between photos #1 and 3 I do prefer #1 for sure. I know the cardigan isn't cutting edge fashion, but I do like the brightening factor. I tried some of my other toppers, and the effect was too gloomy, colour-wise, for my taste. Although I think I tried them before I put the scarf on. Perhaps I should re-evaluate.

Pil, it's actually a reverse bib. ;o) I am a klutz, and sometimes spill on myself. So I remove my scarves while eating, and use them to cover the evidence afterwards. You see why I wear them so much? They fill several functions at once. LOL!

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement.

I'm partial to the green shirt on you, maybe it's a bit more subtle? But the white looks nice too. If I wore my scarves like that they would serve more as a bib : )

JR. The scarf is great - adds white to your outfit. I like you in white - maybe it sharpens up your white hair? On the other hand, the white sweater alone is a bit "frumpy" and less feminine looking - I don't want to be harsh - which outfit makes you feel better?

I'm trying to bring out things I haven't worn in a while, so this deep green blouse (teal green, marine green, still floundering around for a name for it) with subtle black stripes and my checked scarf were the candidates. The white cardigan was added to brighten things. And to keep me warm. The house feels like a fridge, seeing as I am still keeping a couple of windows open a crack at night.

My question about the scarf is this: these scarves were very on-trend a few years ago, so much so that I'm afraid it might look hopelessly dated now. Problem is: I still really like it. Do I look silly wearing it out and should I keep it for at-home use only (it's nice not to be concerned about what the world-at-large thinks sometimes) or does it still look fine? Or is it in that inbetween zone where I can pull it off if I wear it with enough confidence even if it looks a little passé?
