Great outfit. I like the darker colors and think the burgundy adds a nice hit of muted color. I agree that there is no need for a necklace with this. You could add a chunky watch or bracelet but I wouldn't go delicate with these pieces.

I'd wear a pair of garnet earrings or a burgundy hair scarf. Burgundy footwear would be awesome, but cordovan might be more versatile and would work just as well.

I would not add a necklace with that neckline. It is elegant and adds interest by itself.

I am not sure you need to add burgundy anywhere else either. But if you did, a bangle or bag might work best.

Looks super to me. I wear shorter jackets over longer tops all the time (more often than not actually, since I don't have many long jackets). In particular the moto left open with the longer top works quite well. I wouldn't worry about a necklace with that cute neck detail on the blouse, nor would I add another burgundy element. Let that top shine! I like Christieanne's suggestion of a metallic bag with this. If you did want some jewelry, some sparkly earrings could also be a fun addition.

I like the whole outfit - and kudos to you for trying a new silhouette. I have been doing a longer top under shorter moto or sweater recently as well. Very easy update.
As for accessories - I am a necklace lover myself but the detail on your top would be competing with one. Maybe a bolder earring or bracelet if you like them? I don't think you need more burgundy in the look - a metallic bag would be fabulous.

Agree, this is modern and professional and flattering. I would not change a thing but agree a small amount of bling could work very well.

I think this jacket could be a real workhorse as it looks great here and would also work with dresses or skirts.

I would not do up the jacket, it is perfect undone as worn.

I, too, think you've got the outfit just right! It's a great look on you. I don't think you need to repeat the burgundy, but if you wanted to, I'd go for it in earrings or a bracelet, as Viva suggests--something with garnets, perhaps. And I wouldn't add a necklace to the lovely neckline on the blouse.

I think this is a great outfit. No need for a necklace as the top neck is lovely, but definitely a cuff or earrings or indeed bag detail as Suz suggested.

I'm so glad you posted all the outfit pieces and the Finds because your phone is blocking your neckline :). If you can try to move your phone to the left or right in your next WIW it would be great - so we can the front better.

From what I can tell though you look fab in this outfit! I would definitely wear this kind of jacket open, and also over a longer top. In fact, this is exactly how I would wear this kind of jacket. I love the little opening in the top of the blouse, and I personally would not add a necklace, although I tend not to wear a lot of necklaces. I think that's enough at the neck. I agree that earrings or a cuff or sparkly bracelet with burgundy stones would be a great addition, though. I love bracelets and would probably do that, if I were you.

Love this outfit though -- keep it on the shortlist for your new public-facing duties!!

This is a terrific outfit and I don't think you need a necklace with this top, due to the detailing, as you say. A bag that included some burgundy or some textural interest or shine might be a nice addition. You could also try a brooch on the jacket lapel (or brooch collection) -- although that is a very particular look and might not be right for work.

Glad you are posting more WIW and it looks as if you're already developing some great FB outfits.

l think this looks great....and yes, i wear tops that are longer than the jacket all the time.
i like the colors and don't think you need to repeat the burgundy anywhere, but if i was duplicating it, i would look for burgundy boots.

Great outfit! I'm not sure what you mean about wearing a jacket open like this because I rarely see jackets like that zipped where I live. I think this is terrific and the low contrast totally works without needing burgundy repeated anywhere. I also agree that the neckline detail works just like a necklace and would be too busy with anything more. YLF!

Today I have on my new, gray ponte pants (WHBM, just like my black one), and a black crepe moto-style jacket I got at an outrageously cheep price this summer at Loft. I think I paid a whopping $12 (and then spent double that fixing the sleeves). With it I have a sleeveless top from AT. I got some really sweet deals this fall with AT's 40% off sales, and this top with the neckline interest was part of those purchases. I have a long term wardrobe goal of only buying layering tops that will permit my jacket to come off if I get hot. Getting hot is a thing, now. So the cami or tank that looks ok under a jacket but reveals bulges or straps when the jacket comes off is 100% on the no-buy list.

I have some reservations about this outfit, and openly seek input. I had to seek Pinterest reassurance that people actually wore jackets like this open over longer tops. That is reservation number one. The second one is what to do with the neckline. My go-to formula for getting dressed almost always involves a necklace, because scarves make me nuts. I think this top IS a necklace--there is a rectangular opening bridged with a bit of fabric, which is interesting without being too naked for work. Ideally, there would be a repeat of the burgundy color somewhere in this outfit or a bit of bling--would you wear a necklace with a neckline like this?. I do have burgundy shoes, but they are too red for the top. I wish I had a pop of burgundy in a bracelet or earrings. Thoughts?

And my motive to finally start to post outfits after lots of reading but not much posting and no WIWs: I'm trying to ramp up for after Christmas, when my job flips and I go from very low public interaction to very high interaction, for several cold-weather months, and I'm trying to get some perfected outfits sorted out to fall back on then.
