Ok on the boots for awhile then! Thank you for the feedback.

I can see what you.mean about the scarf. The jacket is double- breasted so not as good open, as some other styles. I think the photos and your feed back help show it as more of a travel coat than an indoor jacket. It's cozier than a blazer, and I have a goal of identifying my " parking lot-elevator jackets" that are a kind of lightweight outerwear,so maybe I can put it in that category for another season.

The boots are not dated to my eye. As a matter of fact, I think Clark was selling that same silhouette this year in a different color.

I see what Suz sees, with the jacket I much prefer the version with the scarf (#3) to just the jacket (#2) for some reason. I also quite like the longer sweater with the skirt and booties, probably because you've got booties instead of a more classic option. The Clarks still look good to me. Look at you wearing a skirt with booties like a pro

I like it with the scarf too, the pattern & weight at the neckline work to de-emphasis the shape of the jacket. Have you tried the jacket open with another shorter more fitted jacket underneath, or with a cowl neck knit? I think the boots are fine too.

For some reason I like the proportions better with the scarf filling the neckline. I can't really explain it. Nice play of textures, too!

The boots look fine to me. Not as dated as my square toed boots!!

Of course I LOVE the colour of your skirt!

I so get what you mean about having PPL for tops/sweater .Wouldn't it be heavenly to find the perfect length that will go with skirts and pants! I think this looks fine and the addition of the jacket at scarf looks great to my eye. I can't really get a good view of the boots you are wearing, but the silhouette looks good and the last pair looks like a classic style, not dated at all.

Here is a neutral-toned outfit I tried this week though it's very dark in photo.
Brown/black mini-pattern skirt (reads kinda dark taupe), black merino sweater, tights and booties.
This is something I can wear to work on office-work/not crazy days.
For getting to and fro, added a boucle knit boxy blazer-topper and then scarf.

Things maybe could be better are:
-- sweater could be shorter for skirts, but this is one that does double-duty worn out over pants. So hard to have PTL's (perfect top lengths.) I think the shallow neckline and 3/4 sleeves help the proportions some.
--jacket is probably a tad big for me --bought a year or so ago--but am seeing if it reads "modern boxy" instead of bad fit. Again, the proportions work a bit better with straight skirt than with my trousers, I think, and maybe as a "topper" and not a typical blazer.
--booties I still struggle with as, ideally I would like some that fit closer around the ankle and look more streamlined. Probably will not search this year for any more winter color/style but will see what to do for next fall.

Boot question--these are Clark's short boots I've had a couple of years. Toes are slightly squared but somewhat refined shape. Are these looking too dated? (Need polishing!) My new Munro boots are more almond-toed, not pointy at all but not squared, but the very dark brown color of these Clarks is one I like and has been hard to find.
