Wanted to add that I have the same top in a different pattern. Most times I end up layering it under a sweater.

I can see why you're enjoying the black/white top. I think trendy summer tops are a great place to skimp on quality whne choices have to be made -- they don't have to last more than a couple of seasons.

The yellow pants are terrific. I concur with Aida that a sleek oxford would dress this up more. Conversely, a boxier or slouchier top would work.

I have the opposite dressing issue --- I do smart casual so much better than super casual.

I'm on board with loving that top in #1/2. Great color/print/shape! It could also work well half-tucked with a pencil or tube skirt. Sometimes a dressier silhouette in a more casual fabrication can help bridge that gap to a less casual but still comfortable style. Stretchy knit skirts and dresses come to mind.

Love the top in the first outfit. Like pil I think the cut in the second top is not your style right now.

I LOVE those yellow pants. I have been searching for full length yellow pants. please let me know where you found them. Did you know I also live in Lincoln? That patterned top in 1 is very flattering, too.

Also, the top in 3 isn't as fluid as the other so maybe that makes a difference in your 'happiness factor'? With my peach pants it was suggested I try 'tougher' colors, in this case gray and olive drab, to unsweeten the peach so to speak.

Great top in #1/2, what a fun hectic box print. Nice to see you "out in the wild". too If #3 is meant to be dressier, I'd swap the footwear to something else like a sleek oxford. The outfit IS dressier, but I think sleeker footwear would help further that along just a touch. Also it looks like the top is semi-tucked, perhaps adding a fun printed belt to add a little pattern mix would help things feel more current?

I love the print on both tops. I think different shoes with the yellow jeans might help that outfit. That could be my poison eye for birks although I think they look good with the first outfit.

Following suit for better WIW posts, I took pics outside. I don't know why I never started doing this again when winter was over (I know why I didn't in winter....) Obviously the light out there is so much better than indoor light, and it took barely more time. (Contrast to pic #2, which is earlier today, indoors). Outside, the green light makes me look like I have no lips, hmm... maybe I should wear make up.

Today I'm wearing a black/white print woven tee. I like this top (it has zippers on the shoulders!), even though it's not good quality. My happiness factor in this outfit is rather high - I like the not-too-many colors and simple shapes.

Yesterday I felt not-really frumpy, but definitely not current in my psychadelic swirl top and yellow jeans. I've been trying to think through finding a style for me when I don't want to be super-casual that makes me feel as good as my super casual style does (when it does, that is). Today's post on Alison reminds me that she would be a good source for inspiration.

Any comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome!
