I think the barrel silhouette is rather fun and modern and I find that they quickly help to update any of my older classics. I think it all comes down to how they're styled. I didn’t love skinny styles in the 00s and early 10s but they were much more market-dominating than barrels are now, and I didn’t make sweeping comments about how they made the wearers look, which is what I’ve been seeing. </p> <p>At any rate, I really enjoyed wearing this outfit. I love wearing those pants with a fitted ankle bootie or an ankle-baring substantial sandal. They may not be conventionally flattering but this style has been a distinctive design for years before the trend, so I’ll enjoy them even after the trend has faded. </p> <p>A far as pants styles, I saw several other barrel styles as I walked around the city, as well as huge wide-legged silhouettes, bootcuts, slim cropped and cropped straight styles, and yes, even skinnies and leggings. I’m sort of over the look at this point but will still wear my Lululemon sportier ones and my leopard print pair . I have a pair of wool barrels that are quite tailored and more suited for fall - we’ll see how they look when I pull them out again in September . I don’t know why some people seem so judgy about other people wearing a style they don’t personally enjoy. </p> <p>So yesterday I laughed again as I pulled out my olive Nili Lotans and enjoyed the heck out of wearing them to spend some time at my studio (open to the public for the day) and wander around my city’s annual Flower Mart festival, which is always a lovely diversion on a spring day. </p> <p>Feeling rebellious in barrel pants! LOL </p>
