Shevia, these pants have a side zip and no waistband. They have a higher rise, which I don't mind since there's no waistband, but I don't think a shirt would look good tucked. You never know, though, so I'll try it next time I wear them!

I really like the polka dot jacket and agree with Suz about a lot of long jackets showing up. I like the first outfit too - have you ever tried tucking in the white blouse? Very pretty pendant too!

Thanks, Suz - I missed that on Angie's Pintrest Boards. I will look for the long jacket looks!

I realize I didn't weigh in about fit. I find it difficult to judge. Which in a way is a good thing. The pattern disguises a bit. Which you can work to your advantage if you are not inclined to alter.

Try this over pants, but with a heel. Go to Angie's Pinterest board and look at the fall/ winter 2013 inspirations. There, you'll see she has pinned quite a lot of long jacket looks. They seem to be trending.

Karie, love the blazer and polka dot jacket. I also really like how you have added touches of red to an otherwise neutral coloured outfit and how lucky you are to find a pair of pants that fit perfectly.

I believe the rule is long over short, so maybe best to wear the polka dot jacket with pants. I like your outfit in number one. I think you might have to try, if a skirt sticks out maybe 1-2 inches it wouldn't be odd, just make sure it's not a full skirt since the jacket is a more generous cut vs closer to the body.

Thanks, Kalli - the long jacket is several inches shorter than knee length, no skirts that short, do you think it would look OK with a skirt that is slightly longer than the jacket?

5-7, since I like my jackets a little more roomy for layering purposes, it's better to be a little big vs too small, so my own eyes think the jacket looks fine the way it is. By the way... I adore polka dots too! Not to mention I'm in between jacket sizes so I always have this problem!

With my longer jackets I like to wear them with knee length skirts. I feel like with a jacket that long it needs to be longer than my skirt else it overwhelms.

Thanks, Suz! Yes, I am tall (5'8"), and I am having trouble coming up with ways to style the long jacket. I tried it with an off-white pencil skirt, but I didn't like it. I think maybe the skirt was too long.

All styling suggestions are appreciated!

Wow. I actually love the new polka dot jacket!! I think it is a long blazer. And you're tall, correct? I'll bet you could carry this off brilliantly. Might take a bit of styling. The right shoes, trousers -- everything in the right proportions.

I don't blame you for loving the polka dot lining of your blazer, either. My, how we suffer in the name of looking good!

Photos 1 through 4: Even though this blazer is warm, I near froze with the 3/4 sleeves! This sleeve length is my favorite and I wouldn't dream of unrolling these because I just love the polka dot lining. So I will freeze in the name of fashion!
WIW today: Black slim fit pants (what is the difference between slim fit and cigarette pants?), white blouse, tweed blazer, and I added some red touches in the form of shoes, watch, glasses, and necklace. These slim fit pants are my favorites - I have them in black, denim blue, and brown - they have a side zip so no bulk at the waist.

Blazer: Bar III, Macy's
Blouse: ?
Wrap Belt: Amazon
Pants: JC Penney
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Handmade (not by me) crushed glass fired

Pics 5 through 7 - fit questions: The polka dot jacket was a gift and I can't exchange it. I actually love the jacket as I am a huge fan of polka dots. How is the fit? When closed, it fits perfectly across the waist and hips. My concern is in the shoulders and bust area. Does it look too big in the bust? I could make an adjustment in the darts if I need to, but the jacket is lined so it will be a pain. Also, the shoulders are ever-so-slightly off, but if I adjust that, then it will make the sleeves shorter, and I think the sleeve length is fine now, so then I will have to make the sleeves longer. I don't mind doing the alterations, but I'm not sure they're necessary.

And one last question! How would you style jacket in pics 5-7? It isn't warm, and it's really not outdoor jacket type material, so would it be OK to wear it all day indoors, like a blazer?
