I don't think of myself of a master of layering but I do spend a lot of the year doing it (cold climate, cold body), so I guess I've gotten pretty good at it :-)  BrieN thanks so much! It IS interesting about how we all view color so differently. To me neutrals are white/cream, black, grey, and sometimes blue denim.. Anything else, especially earth tones and all forms of blue, are "colors". These days I prefer only one color per outfit, preferably with some neutrals. I just read your comment that you don’t see brown as a neutral and it kind of surprised me… it’s one of my favorites to experiment with color. So many of the current trends (high rise, wide leg)  either look awful on me (IMHO) or don't fit right so I'll stick to what works. I am happy dressing mostly classic thank goodness! The brown makes the black look less severe and also a little warmer. You have found some wonderful pieces and combined them expertly. Blondo suede booties. 2" heels sometimes work for me, sometimes they are too high. These boots are ok as long as I'm not going to walk in them all day.  Jessica Minkoff small hoping for gold hardware. My patience paid off! NYDJ jeans in color “coffee bean”. I’ve had such a terrible time finding pants that fit this year that I ended up recently buying my 4th and 5th colors of this style (quintuplicating?). It’s a super casual style, but I decided to go with what works! Aritzia scarf. First item of this brand. Love the geo pattern which has a slightly US Southwest/Native American feel. Warm merino wool, a little scratchy but not too bad. A triangle shape which makes it less voluminous than the big blanket scarves Angie posted about recently, which is SO much better on me with my very short neck and body. It comes in two grey/black variations, burgundy, and a camel/navy and I’m thinking hard about duplicating in one of those colors because triangle scarves like this seem hard to come by and I love this brown/black one. Tahari Ivory pullover new this year.  Macy’s/Inc faux leather jacket quite a few years old.  It was quite warm for December, with high temp around 50F, so I didn’t need a winter coat for morning errands. As the day progressed the torrential rain moved in (and stayed overnight), so I added a waterproof coat when going out to dinner with DH.  I’ve worn these jeans & boots with sweaters in burgundy and navy and they work well with my grey/blue puffer jacket and a black coat. They are ok with some but not all of the warmer brown/cognac colors that have been more typical for me.  I think I like this outfit best of all the ones I've tried.  I am really liking this color!!     All comments and suggestions welcome, as always!
