Hey Girl, do you aim euro chic here?:-) I love all, but am happy you left nr 3 at home..it's not that fab as the other outfits, or it may be only my '"euro"-eyes?:-))
Love the polka dress with red denim jacket, and tartan scarf!!!! Classic colour combo, but unexpected textures/and prints. My fav! and scarf from nr 4 is beautiful!

Wow. I am amazed at your creativity! I love your tweed jacket and I'm so glad it is getting a lot of wear. Your other jackets are fun too, expecially the blue military one. I love looks 4 and 5 too. (I wonder why!) Thanks for showing me a new way to wear "our" jacket and scarf! I'm sorry you are having a hard time styling it--I think it works great with dresses so it might not really come into it's own until next summer. Those new yellow shoes will be awesome then. They read as a nude from a distance, while bookending your golden hair (so you don't even need a yellow scarf). Fantastic job! And your haircut looks better every time I see it. You look amazing!

My goodness! What flattery! And I wasn't feeling very fab at ALL about these outfits. They were more in the nature of experiments, if you know what I mean.

@Wannabe, I will be crossing fingers for those Fryes. You deserve them after all your sleuthing!!

Rae...popped collars are tougher with longer hair, or at least they were for me. They work best with short hair or maybe hair worn up or in a high pony? Then again, your hair is long enough that it might not compete with a collar pop the way my more shoulder-length hair did.

Angie, the fashion Queen can never be too bossy, because she always rules with grace and aplomb! It is interesting that you picked out 4 and 5 because they (along with 1) were the outfits in which I felt most comfortable; the others felt a bit "costumey" to me. So on the whole I agree with you; I should be aiming for something like Eurochic (with a bit of colour). My only fear is that I can quickly veer from chic into boring-and-prissy-overly-classic. That has always been my fallback and I don't want to revert to it. So I need to figure out how to avoid that and also somehow to express an artistic side without looking "artsy." This is my current puzzle.

Aida, GREAT advice for #3 to push up the sleeves. It really felt weird as it was for some reason. Re the colours, I think it MAY just be a lighting issue. That pic is the only one taken outdoors and the light that day was a very strange overcast but bright. The photo makes me look really washed out; it may be a bit overexposed. Anyway, the jacket is actually the very same one as in #4! And the phlox or orchid top is one that Angie remarked on as "my" colour when I first wore it (also for an outdoor photo) this past summer. Mind you, I had a bit more sun on my face then, and it may in fact flatter more at that time of year.

The other thing is that I had that yellow scarf on near the face. I was hoping the dominant blue and orchid would control the horrid effect of yellow next to my skin...but maybe it didn't.

Thanks again, everyone!

Great jacket week Suz! I love #2, but I think #4 and #5 are my favorite for you (especially #4!!!). Regarding #3, I see two things. One, since your shoes expose skin I want to see skin exposed somewhere else; pushing up the jacket sleeves would remedy this quite nicely in addition to loosening the look up a bit. Two, I am not sure about these colors for you; I don't know if it's just the light or what, but I love the colors in #2 and #4 for you SO much better in comparison!

Suz, no need to tell me about fitting boots as I've been undergoing it for years and I've yet to buy a pair. I only have half an inch on you in height, but I have a "freakishly large left calf" (according to my DH), and it's a good bit bigger than the right one. Even if I manage to find a boot that will go over monster lefty it never looks good. And forget about tucking in pants!!! Never gonna happen. I've only managed to get one or two pair on in the past and I never liked their style. Sigh. I've finally broken down and ordered the Frye Veronicas in extended calf size as a last ditch effort (even though I shouldn't be plunking down that kind of cash right now), but I have this burning desire to know whether or not they will work. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

LOL, Joy and Ornella, I seem to have worn a scarf every single day this fall!

To do the scarf challenge properly I would have to do what you are doing, Ornella—and wear some that I rarely put on—or else learn to tie in new and more interesting ways. In fact, I will probably do the latter, and submit my outfits late, because my first three outfits this week were just what I could throw together with the three scarves I happened to have in my suitcase. I did make a point of wearing a different one each day, at least!

Well, you surely passed this challenge with flying colors! I love this series (and any other in fact) because one bunch of photos gives such a good insight into style experiments.

Una said it so well, first pass was all about loving them, second was about studying them!

There is such a variety of looks on offer that i find it hard to pick a favorite, they all stand out for something.

1. Beautifully casualised (is that a word?) jacket which is classic and fun. I love the clever details with the angled cuffs and I don't blame you for wanting to wear it all the time.

2. Polkadots + plaid + vibrant denim jacket. Creative genius.

3. I love the colors and the overall silhouette, the pops of yellow are delicious. I do see, however, that there was a potential for tugging the outfit while meeting your friends, great thing you've swapped it for something that would not take your focus away from the event (and outfits that don't work can do that so well).

4. Oh, I die. I've never appreciated (nearly) blacks and browns together before YLF and I am so glad I've learnt to appreciate and love them, because this outfit is just amazing.

5. Easy, simple, practical, reliable, yet still funky!

Suz, I can completely understand your love of jacket from #1, but I am so glad the challenge made you reach out for the other gems from your wardrobe, because we'd be denied absolute delights otherwise.

p.s.
This series ticks off scarves week too

Your WIW and style are always a special treat. This series could be resubmitted for scarf week! I like everything, including the unexpected pairing of yellow and lavendar and strict jacket with jeans in #3.
I especially enjoyed the plaid mixed with polka dots in #2.

Well, THANK you, Wannabe!

Let me tell you a secret. I actually have very "imperfect" legs for boots. In fact, most of us probably do; fitting boots is really tricky! But my legs are: 1. on the short side; I am only 5'4" or so and short-legged. 2. On the muscular side: my calves measure 13.5 inches.

So I have literally endured the eye-rolling of certain sales assistants when trying on tall boots! No joke.

My secret weapons are: STRETCH (the Franco Sarto boots are stretch). And ADJUSTMENTS (the Timberland cognac boots have an adjustable buckle on the top to make them work with dresses or skinnies).

Apart from that, I have to watch the shaft height to make sure they are not too tall.

I can't pinpoint why, but I'm loving #2. Maybe I'm just in a cowgirl kind of mood. Love #4 as well. All of your boots look amazing. You seem to have perfect legs for boots, they all fit you so well.

Thanks, all.

Amy, I liked the colours, but my husband said the scarf didn't work with the rest of the outfit. And I didn't feel fab in it. The scarf and shirt kept bunching in an uncomfortable way. So given all that, and the fact that I didn't want to spend my whole visit with the friends tugging at my clothes, I decided to change.
