<p>Thanks AG! I treat my shorts more like skinnies than skirts, probably because my skirts are always full &amp; require different tops to work well.

<p><div>MG, I know I've shown it at least once before! It's alpaca too so v warm and soft. My dad got it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago, which is why it's a darker grey than I'd have picked on my own, but I still love it. Your cape sounds fabulous; in February I decided my $20/month thrifting budget was allowing me too much leeway. So I cut it in half and spent the other half of my year's clothing allowance on two fabulous vintage wool coats from ebay. One of them has a detachable cape (and is German)! I'll have to take a pic for you.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Good to know re: bombshell. In my head, the short's hemline &amp; more fitted sweater=both legs and chest on display, which makes it feel more bombshell to me. Clearly, that is not a persona I intend to adopt! (The only other time I approach it is when I wear lower cut tops I suppose.)</div><div><br /></div><div>Emily, if I could give you a million boosts for that Mary Margaret comparison I would! Love her. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Diana!</div><div><br /></div><div>Dee, it was my first time trying knitting while walking, and I was surprised at how easy it was! I was knitting a simple baby vest on a circular needle &amp; had just started, so there wasn't a bunch of knitting to weigh the needles down, and I just kept going around and around. I knit continental, so I kept the yarn in a tote bag off my left shoulder &amp; it worked fine. See my explanation to MG as far as bombshell goes. I've worn this shorts both here in Texas and in Colorado (cooler climate) &amp; think they're great for cool-but-not-cold weather. Very comfy too!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Isabel. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Alasse! I suppose I get nervous when I've received good feedback on a simpler look that that means my more whimsical ones aren't as good. But really they're just different I suppose.</div><div><br /></div><div>Rabbit, I checked your profile, and I'd love to live in Portland! I'll have to visit someday and bring all of my soft fuzzy layers with me. hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Columbine!</div><div><br /></div><div>Aida, isn't there something wonderful about wool shorts?! Even though they seem like a contradiction until you have a pair, hehe. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Diane, see my (overly long) explanation to Dee re: knitting. Thank you for the outfit compliments!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Kiwichik!</div><div><br /></div><div>Hil, lol: I need to make my descriptions more concise. But I'm glad it all worked in the photos! :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Suz, I love the way you described it. Thank you.</div><div><br /></div><div>K. Period., the hedgehog is my brooch, so easily removable! Underneath it is one of those Abercrombie moose logos. I often seam ripper things, but the moose involves a lot of thread &amp; has interfacing to back it up, so I'm afraid I'll end up with a big hole. Still trying to decide what to do as a permanent solution, but fortunately for now my brooches should work! And yes, getting the sweater for $2.50 plus tax made it extra sweet. hehe</div>

<p>Beautiful! I love that color too, so I can imagine how fantastic you felt scoring such a lovely cashmere jumper at 50% off! &nbsp;Is the hedgehog something you could remove? So often those things can be removed with carefully deployed embroidery scissors, but I'm guessing you've already considered that since we knitters tend to be willing to look at things with a crafty and unrestricted eye!&nbsp;&nbsp;

As I was reading, I was trying to picture you and I just couldn't imagine what you could be wearing and how it could all work. And yet it does, in the most delightful way. You are a very talented dresser E!!!

<p>If I saw you in Home Depot, I'd definitely do some staring - but in a good way.&nbsp; This is delightful.&nbsp; Have you posted that cape before?&nbsp; I love it.&nbsp; I might have a <i>thing</i> for capes - I had a Bavarian wool cape when I was a tween which I adored, and probably need to just go head and find a similar one and buy it.&nbsp; Though probably not the dirndle and puffed sleeve blouse.&nbsp; </p>
<p>ps - this doesn't read bombshell in the slightest

<p>Of course, after I rearranged my closet on Friday, our weather cooled off again! Luckily, I don't actually store my offseason clothes elsewhere, just move them to the margins, so it wasn't too difficult to pull them back out. And living in south Texas, I'm never going to complain about cooler temps in April! They let me wear my new favourite jumper one last time; I thrifted this robin's egg blue cashmere cabled pullover in February, the same day as the sparkly striped sweater from yesterday's post. Both were 50% off too: it was a good day! I have lots of cardigans but not many jumpers (comparatively speaking...recall I'm not a clothes minimalist), and none of them were cashmere, so I was thrilled to plug that 'hole,' especially in one of my favourite blue-green shades (note how well I match my room, hehe). The only drawback is a little moose on the chest; while I think moose are fascinating animals, I'm not big on brand advertisements on my clothing, so my little hedgehog brooch&nbsp;covered it up for me, which meant my silver rings also came out to play.</p>
<p>The day before had been the epic trouser try on day, which had made me feel a bit frumpy/blah, so I pulled out my wool shorts to counteract that. They're mid-thigh, and I usually wear them with a waist-surrendering top, but I really wanted to wear my cashmere too. This is pretty much the most bombshell you will ever see me! I love wearing tones of the same colour at once, and luckily I have teal tights. Over those I wore knee high grey alpaca socks for warmth and to 'bookend' the shorts.</p>
<p>I ended up running several errands and having lunch out with my mom, so for outerwear I decided to give my beloved cape a last outing (which also counteracted the bombshell-iness of the shorts). Of course, then my teal tights didn't have any other blue-green to play with, so on went my very first knitted pieces: the teal hat and mitts. Since it was chilly and rainy, I wore my knee high, wool-lined, weather-proof boots as well. I have to admit, I got some looks at Home Depot, but that might have been because I was knitting while walking around the store too (baby shower's coming up! I've managed to finish a blanket &amp; little vest &amp; am considering casting on a stuffed toy today). Turns out capes are perfectly suited to knitting on the go, and in fact I've decided a linen cape might be the perfect solution to my hot weather vs arms needing&nbsp;sun protection dilemma that sees me wearing long sleeves in 100+ (40+) heat.</p>
<p>This outfit is definitely more quaint/whimsical than yesterday's, so I'm not sure how y'all will feel about it, but it made me happy. After I'd gotten dressed, I just forgot about my clothes, as everything fit well and felt good, which is always a sign of a successful outfit for me.
