Although it's hard to let it go, it's for a good reason. You look great and should be able to show it off. If you can't bear to part with the jacket, you could always put it away and deal with it later -- although that could be dangerous if you just end up accumulating unwearable items.

On the bright side, I'm intrigued by your closet. Cool shoe rack!

Gosh, I know how hard it can be to toss lovely things, but you're just swimming in that jacket. I think you're making the right decision though.

It's a beautiful jacket Jayne but it's definitely too big on you. Glad you're letting it go - you can definitely do better!

I agree it's too big now. I would take it to a tailor and see how much it would be to get altered and if it's a lot then move on and get something new instead. Show off your slimmer bod, you've worked hard to get it!

Great color for the jacket on you. While it does look a tad too big, perhaps a tailor can slim the sides for you?

I agree that you should let the jacket go. The color is lovely and you've made a good effort to update it, but it really is too big and the style is a little dated I fear.

On a brighter note, you might be able to find some jackets on sale now that the winter season is ending. Here's one:

Good call, I think. I was noticing how even the sleeves are gigantic on you. It is a lovely jacket that has served you well, and can still has many years left in it.

I can see what you love about this jacket, so I would second Kimlees suggestion of having it tailored so it really fits and flatters you.

Jayne - My only reservation with the jacket is that it is big on you. I like how you have added the ribbon tie to compensate, but it still appears to big. Since you love this jacket so much, could you have it altered by a tailor.

This jacket had been with me for 20 years. I literally bought it at casual corner on my way out of town moving from ohio to california. The move brought me to the high desert where it became a closet orphan...it is heavy wool and the desert did not welcome it. I absolutely love this jacket. It has the horsey vibe that has always attracted me and the green is pure and true. It had been worn here in norway for many years, even at my highest weight. And now, to fit now I have added a ribbon on back that I tie to create a waist, picture 2.
I already always wear it with black column under so I tried a pencil skirt and a girly skirt, pics 1 & 3. To add sparkle I use my fake snakeskin patent boots and my sweethearts necklace (as in "gift from sweetheart")
Angie, hope you won't ask me to toss it, I know it is a bit big now :). Most clothes have been retired after losing weight but jackets are expensive and have been the last holdout in my wardrobe..
