I like the shoved up pants idea; we do it with our sleeves all the time, so why not with our pants (if they stay UP that is!). Just be sure to pick one or the other; sleeves or pants!

I love the color of your sweater and it looks divine with the owl pin and the gray. I like a little more structure in my shirt tails but you still pull off a great casual look. I adore the deep red of your coat.

What a great look! The grey and brown work well together and the entire outfit does, indeed, have a whimsical quality to it. As someone with a long torso as well, I also go the cami-underneath route. A woven cami would've worked, but I think the silk one adds a more earthy, organic feel to the look you've put together. As for cords as breeches...brilliant!

My favorite outfits are ones that make me feel as if I could run off into the woods and survive! I was watching Once Upon a Time in Wonderland last night and thought of you and your style - she (Alice) is rather more frilly than you tend towards, but if you haven't seen it already, give it a look!

Adorable. I didn't comment on the other post because there was already a great deal of feedback but I did love the use of layering and the colors.

You remind me of Claire Danes and have an impish quality. I think the playfulness of your outfit choices works very well with that quality and is charming.

Awwww I could eat that owl up! o_O! I have added a bonus pic of my owl earrings. Thought all the owls could be happy together! ;)

You look cute! And the color combo is brilliant as usual. I am not sure if the silk cami is *wrong*. It blends with your style. It might have looked frumpy on so many of us! And the cords look good tugged. I think you pull the entire look off beautifully! It works!

I'm almost afraid to post a different style of outfit after everyone's kind words on yesterday's post! But ah well. I'd already gotten dressed by the time I saw the comments, so that was that. It was still cold yesterday, so of course I had to pull on a wool jumper! This one is merino; I got it from a thrift store on a visit to friends, and I've been waiting patiently since May to wear it. I love the textural stripes and the roomy fit that still nips in at my waist and wrists. This dark chocolate brown isn't my very best colour but it's not my worst when so I find something that's perfect in every other way except the brownness, I usually get it anyway. I absolutely love grey & brown together, so I paired it with my grey corduroys. Thanks to my long torso, I couldn't trust the sweater to keep my stomach completely covered when I moved, so rather than fuss all day I just added a silk cami underneath. I loved how it felt, but looking at the pictures I'm not sure a woven cami was the best idea, since it blouses out under the sweater's ribbing. Perhaps I should have used a cotton knit one instead? Let me know! I bookended my brown sweater with my brown wool socks, which I got on super sale this summer ($6 I think) and all of the brown and grey made me think of owls, so my little owl brooch came along and then two gold rings to match (they're both nature inspired, one leaves and one leaves & old fashioned rose, I need to take a close up!).

After reading the lovely comments on my fairy tale outfit, though, I decided that maybe my outfit didn't have quite enough whimsy, so I tugged my cords up into breeches, all the better to show off my socks, and added a grey floral silk scarf to my head. Do let me know if it works or is too much. I should've taken a pre-whimsy photo for comparison, but you'll just have to imagine the cords pulled down like here and an unscarfed head. I felt good and comfortable and warm all day, as if I could run off to the forest at a moment's notice and blend right in.

For my walk, it was cold (40F/5C), so I put on my wool lined knee high boots and a wool coat. Since the coat was such a bright colour, I stuck with more grey for my hat and scarf and put on my only pair of gloves, which are sadly black and years old (I think I need to replace them with some grey or navy blue ones!). I stayed very warm in this: I was outside for about an hour and towards the end it was drizzling/misting, but I was quite cosy. Wool is such a magical fabric! Thistle (my dog) had on her wool sweater too, as her fur on her chest and belly is very thin so not insulating, but she declined to be in the photos. Perhaps tomorrow. :)

A word about the pics: I took them when I got home from my walk, had eaten a giant bowl of soup for dinner (hence the belly in the profile shots), and was just about ready for bed and very sleepy. So I didn't realise my sock had slipped a bit: it had actually stayed in place without adjusting all day, I think because of the ribbing, so it must've slipped when I took my boots off after my walk. And I forgot to put a bra on so hopefully the darkness and poofiness of the sweater preserves your eyes. lol Oh and I didn't bother with makeup yesterday, so if I look a little washed out that's why! Clearly I need to take pics earlier in the day so I don't feel the need to add a whole paragraph of disclaimers. Close up of the owl for Neel. She's a bit funny looking, which is why I got her, but then I accidentally ran her through the washer once (!) and now she's got what I choose to call a patina where some of the plating came off.

Comments and suggestions and critiques welcome! Especially re: the cami issue and cords-as-breeches.
