Fantastic week of outfits -- very cohesive overall. You seem to have your summer style dialed in. Agree with your strategy to wear your favorites when the weather permits!

I think my favorite outfit of the week is #2 with the jumper. I have a real sugar eye for that skirt + jumper + sneakers look. This image has been on my pinterest board for years and still feels as appealing to me as ever.

Thanks everyone for your kind words :)

I've found it a useful practice to reflect in this manner, I have a feeling I will gain some insights if I continue with this for a bit. It feels like there are some thoughts percolating at the edge of my brain at the moment but I'm not able to articulate them just yet!

Angie our weather can be incredibly variable, so even though it's technically summer you never know what you will get.

A few of you mentioned the jumpers/sweaters over dresses, using that formula has made a huge improvement to my comfort with summer dressing. Where I am, average summer highs are only in the mid 20s°C (early 70s°F) and there is often a cool breeze, so you need to have a range of topper options. What I've learned thus far for my style, be very careful with the type of band on the bottom, cropped is much easier to work with and the weight and colour need to be lighter.

Footwear is one of my loves (I worked at a shoe shop while I was at university) and I like to think I have a good eye for interesting additions. Comfort has become a much bigger factor and I have added a number of options from Frankie4 and Bared (Australian brands) over the last year.

A fantastic week of outfits. You wear skirts and dresses so well. I admire your sense of proportion in all of these. My favorites are the ones where you have paired a pullover/jumper and a dress to create two stellar looks in one day--1,2 and 5,6. I love the lighter footwear in both of these outfits, and also in 8/9. Really excellent looks all around!

A fun collection of skirts and dresses here and nice layering with the sweater in #2 and blazer in #9.

You have an excellent eye for pairing skirts and dresses with fun footwear, I especially like the metallic loafers in #5. Simply lovely!

Very pretty outfits all around. Pencil skirts are supposedly coming back, if that matters to you . I especially like #5 - the dress is really interesting and I like it with the metallic loafers. Really a great week all around.

Lovely to see you post, RachelNZ! Looking good! Fab to see a week of dresses and skirts on this sleeting day in Seattle. Snow on the way.

Has it cooled down in NZ already?

Too bad the skirt in #7 is poorly made because you look stellar in that outfit!

#8 is KILLER and my favourite of the week! Elegantly practical. LOVE the loafers with the dress. Fashionable and fresh! (Biased because I'm a loafer-person). Looking wonderfully '90s with the addition of the blazer in #9!

#1 and #5 are very pretty dresses too! You wear them with panache :)

You look terrific in your skirts and dresses and it seems smart to wear them now while weather permits (or makes them more comfortable). The green in the first photos is great on its own and also with the jumper -- nice tonal textural mix. The striped dress is pure summer! And what a shame that the skirt in the next outfit is poorly made. So frustrating. In the photos it looks lovely. I will admit I have nostalgia -- for years I had a dress with a very similar pattern.

Nice variety in silhouette and in the different types of footwear and toppers. It's very clear that once factor guiding your decisions about what to wear on any given day is weather and another is whether or not you will be driving. That makes sense. In my case, it's weather and whether I'll be on my bike, walking, using transit, or driving.

All such pretty outfits, such a nice assortment of patterns and styles to suit any mood dresser. I think its a great exercise in discovering what you enjoying wearing and why. I’m a little jealous of all these summer prints and styles, as there’s a big snowstorm underway where I am.

I’m going to try post some weekly WIW summaries for a bit. I’m keen to explore why I choose my outfits and what I enjoyed about them. I am a mood dresser who considers the weather, daily practicalities and any particular vibe I want to project that day. I tend to think in full outfits so these may get repetitive as I go through the weeks but maybe sharing them will prompt me to get more creative!

My weeks will run Fri-Thu as I’m not working Fridays at the moment, so will try get in the habit of posting them on Friday morning.

Fri 7th Feb No WIW, only left the house to go to the personal trainer so wore gear or home clothes all day.

Sat 8th Feb – Photos 1 & 2 Was meeting someone for brunch in the city centre.

I’m trying to make sure I wear my summer dresses any time the weather co-operates and while this was a sunny day, I still needed another layer when I was outside. Khaki has been a surprise addition to my colour wheel over the last couple years but I feel it works well with my colouring. Really like how this jumper makes the outfit more casual and it is a good style for wearing over dresses as it doesn’t have a band at the bottom. White leather sneakers from Frankie4 (highly recommend this brand if you are looking for comfortable shoes in NZ/Australia) which kept my feet comfortable for some walking around.

Sun 9th Feb – Photo 3 We were attending an extended family afternoon tea and it was a beautiful warm day, no need for an extra layer that day!

This was a recent second hand addition to replace an old dress with a very similar pattern. The old dress felt a bit short for my current preferences and I am enjoying the midi length and looser style of this one. With a pop of pink this felt very fresh and summery.

Mon 10th Feb – Photo 4 A work outfit, was driving and didn’t need to leave the office during the day so could wear my block heeled shoes.

I like how the cream in the top picks up the cream in the skirt pattern. This skirt is very poorly made, I purchased a second one at the start of the year (both were second hand) as the first one got badly out of shape but I was still enjoying this particular outfit. Would be annoyed had I purchased the skirt full-price as it’s from a mid-range Australian brand so would have been $150-$200 NZD new.

Tue 11th Feb – Photos 5 & 6 A work outfit, was taking the bus, had to walk to a meeting with a client and it was a cooler day with a little bit of rain so needed a jumper.

It is a NZ made merino and possum jumper so nice and warm, it’s cropped plus I tuck it up into the waist tie to add some more definition. The silver pearl loafers go well with the white in the dress and I also wore pearl earrings.

Wed 12th Feb – Photo 7 A work outfit, was driving and not leaving the office so could wear something with a heel.

I still enjoy wearing a pencil skirt for work, although on Carla’s post on pencil skirts a few weeks ago, most said they don’t wear them much anymore. Worn with a cotton/silk blend navy tee and per Angie’s footwear trends for 2025, my peep toe mules fit right in! It can be a bit chilly in the air conditioning so had the same jumper as yesterday in my bag.

Thu 13th Feb – Photos 8 & 9 A work outfit, attending a presentation after work then out for dinner with DH. Needed an outfit that would feel comfortable across all those contexts plus had a topper option when it cooled down in the evening.

This dress worked well last winter with tights and tan boots and am enjoying it with the tan suede loafers as well, the pattern picks up tan well. Until last year I had never really worn blazers, my shoulders are my widest point, so I always felt unbalanced in them. In my eyes they still don’t work on every outfit but something like this where there the bottom isn't form fitting works well.

Overall I enjoyed all my outfits this week, all dresses and skirts which is my preferred style especially for work. Will continue to try to make the most of any opportunity to wear summer outfits – I have a couple of dresses that are at their best on warmer days so hopefully we will get a few more of them!

Any thoughts, styling ideas etc are appreciated.
