Thanks again, ladies! I'm now grinning from ear to ear, fit to split my face! :-D

Sona and Helen, I'd hardly need to use any product! Actually, all I'd need to replicate my stylist's 'set' would be a large round brush and a shampoo with silicone to coat the hair shaft. I'm wary of that last, but maybe it's worth replacing the hair brush I threw out all those years ago! My stylist also *knows* I'm wash-and-wear, so she really works with the texture of my hair to make sure it's not product or hair-dryer reliant. That young lady is *smart*!

Crazyone, can't wait to see you cut short and flipped out!

OOH LA LA - love it! So smart and glamorous. Fab, ManidpaM! The "flips" are so chic. Looks like your stylist cut long layers then put pomade or cream and straightened it - with that great cut, it should be easy to maintain even if you don't blowdry. You must feel like a new lady!!!

Wow! Your haircut is truly stunning! It's such a change but change is good.

Our culture glorifies long hair to the point where it can be so hard to take the plunge and cut it off. I was wrestling with this on the forum a month or so ago (got my haircut last weekend) but the conclusion I reached is that you don't need to pick any one style and stick with it forever.

Variety is the spice of life. You enjoyed an earlier variation of this haircut in middle school. Then you enjoyed having long, full, glamorous locks and playing with braided hairstyles. Now you get to enjoy a new, chic, short cut that is wash and wear. Maybe in another few years, you'll feel like growing your hair out again or cutting it shorter or styling it differently. It's so nice being able to use haircuts to change our look easily.

Wow! Thanks, ladies! Am a little startled at how much love this hairstyle is getting, given I spent many years thinking of it as nothing special --- but hey, while I *am* blushing from the comments, and won't deny this is a real confidence booster! I should go tip Helen (my hair stylist) double next time! Even a K-word out of Angie! Helen is truly FAB and a keeper, I'm guessing :-D

Claire, quite true about the relative old-fashionedness of longer hair, especially in India, where it used to be anathema for Hindu women to cut their hair unless and until widowed. Even a retro cut is more modern to us just for being a 'cut'. And no, no comfort issues with this oufit at all --- I've only just managed to put the pieces of this outfit together (I've struggled with different pants with this tunic) and am rather happy with what I've ended up at.

Vix and Claire, excellent point about looking for Western garb in similar silhouettes.

Sara and Natalie, yes, indeed my hair is curly enough to flip out and curl at the ends without help. Wash and dry is the only way I wear it--- haven't seen a hair dryer at home since my mother's conked out on me when I was 14 (she'd never used it either!). It took my stylist about 5 minutes to dry it with a round brush after the cut, and that was about it. It's certainly easy enough if i had the skill or inclination.

Oh I couldn't WAIT to see you post this after a sneaky aside about getting your haircut in someone's thread last night! Woo-hoo! This is absolutely transforming! You may have had this haircut before, but it's all new for us. I feel it gives you a completely different vibe. Actually your long hair seems much more *old-fashioned* to me than this does. I also think it makes you look younger and more professional. I am in awe of your beauty!

The outfit has very pleasing and flattering proportions (perhaps that's why the costume designers gravitate to it for the extras?) I'm unfamiliar with any problems that might arise from your sporting such a look --but I love it all on you, seriously, you look tall and slender. Is it practical and comfortable? A dress patterned after the tunic would be perfect for you. the neckline is flattering and not too low, the 3/4 or elbow length sleeves are very nice, the empire waist is at the perfect spot on you, and the "around the knee" length is the charm!

I can't stop going back up to look at the pictures! So lovely! *sigh*

Wow, Mandipa - this is SO gorgeous on you! Your hair itself is beautiful curling like that and the cut is glamorous and flattering for you :-)

Can you really just let it dry on its own and get that? Your stylist has earned your trust :-)

I don't know but this cut and your outfit make you look extra confident and professional!

You look absolutely wonderful - hair, clothes, accessories - all perfect!
I love the haircut - as the others have said, long enough to put up, but short enough to frame your face beautifully. It should look just as nice when you do it yourself - maybe more loose curl will appear? The tunic is really flattering - the high V neck elongates the look and the soft colours are so light and summery. I hope you pin this photo to your closet door, because you are one gorgeous woman and don't you forget it. Take that, MM!
