Great outfit, and I would have to echo the advice to follow your gut on the hairdresser. Every time I've had a not-so-great first impression, I was unhappy with the results too.

A. I love that outfit and have major boot envy. I have complete knock-offs, but the quality is no comparison. So good to hear you are able to do a little walking.
B. I would try Jenava's recommendation. Shouldn't any good colorist be able to do a good job even if there is a little transition period to a new color mix? I would trust my gut feeling in this case. My current hairdresser was able to do highlights that match the naturally sun-bleached ends of my hair perfectly.

I would not give another chance. The sooner you start looking the sooner you'll find the right person.

Can I get a shot of the gap on those boots? I'm looking for something similar, as you know, and trying to figure out how much gap is okay, as well as how I'd style them. If I could wear ankle boots like this with rolled jeans, I'd be in heaven.

Love your outfit - the booties are fab and worth falling off the wagon for. Love your lipstick colour BTW!

I think I would give this salon another chance since they have your colour formula, however, I would certainly bring your issues to their attention and see if address them.

Really like the striped tee on you and the boots are fabulous, imo. I think that was a wise-buy, actually, especially given that your size is sold out everywhere.

In the meantime, re: hairdresser - um, I left my last hair salon because they messed up a few of my appointments - ie. phoned me the day before at 3pm to tell me that my appt. for the next morning at 10:00 a.m. needed to be changed/re-booked. This is the front desk making mistakes with their scheduling, or booking me for appts. on days when my stylist wasn't actually working etc. Although I liked the hairstylist for the most part, I ended up leaving because of these last minute inconveniences. Didn't tell them either - just didn't book any more appts. with them. I think part of the reason I did this is because it was an expensive salon and I didn't really feel like the service at the front desk matched the price of the haircuts.

As others have said, I'd also take a recommendation from someone I know over a recommendation from someone leaving a salon.

Anyway, after I left the hair place I was going to for the last year, I took a chance and went to another place - got a *horrible* haircut. Not happy, but have since found a much better place - it's even better than the original salon.

I know what you mean about bang trims - it's one of those things where you're just squeezed in, but someone should at least say, "So and so will be right with you, would you like a coffee?" or what have you. I'd try the place Jenava recommends...a cut/trim first and see what you think of their colour work on other clients before trying new colour at a new salon.

In order for your color formula to be of any use, you'd have to go to a salon that uses the same color company. I'd give this salon another chance; perhaps go with another recommended stylist there.

love the outfit. good for you to reward milestones like your health. we all need a boost, esp after what you've been through healthwise.

run run run to jenava's hairdresser. you don't owe the salon your loyalty since your stylist left. if she is that sloppy about herself, how would she treat you?

I wish I had jumped up from the chair and run out of the salon every time I've had a bad *gut feeling* from a hairdresser. I feel you really need to click with them and get the vibe that they are eager to please. Having you sit and wait for your bang trim without communication is a bad sign to me, maybe even worse than stained fingernails. Is there any way you can get a hard copy of your color formula to hand carry with you to Jenava's stylist? I completely agree with Traci's feeling on getting a recommendation from another client instead of a professional. Sorry, this is an emotionally charged subject for me. There are few places I feel as helpless as in the stylist's chair. *deep breaths*

Your outfit is tres adorable! Love the fresh striped top and the *evening* necklace. A nice juxtaposition! You look really nice. And your bangs turned out well, all things considered.

Ah, I like your bangs! They are not as severe and robot-y as the inspiration pic - love it! And this is another outfit I'd love to steal from head to toe.

I have one friend who colors her hair and had to switch hairdressers - she went through a good number of terrible dye jobs before finding a new hairdresser. Based on that, I would give the place with your color recipe another chance, but tell them you were unhappy with the wait before you go again. You can always decide to change if you are still unsatisfied.

Is this a new salon? or the same salon as your old hairdresser w/ a new stylist? The timing thing and not keeping you up to date would be more of a front desk thing than a stylist thing, right?

I'd probably go with Jenava's recommendation. I've noticed with people like doctors and hair dressers that the same qualities that make a co-worker enjoy them is not necessarily always the same qualities that a customer enjoys. I prefer to get my recommendation from other clients rather than from other professionals. Does that make sense?

ps. Love the boots. definitely worth falling off the wagon for.

Anna, that would be a turn-off for me too. I very much go on my gut instinct and first impressions with hair salons. I've got to feel comfortable with the rapport and trust in my stylist for me to want to return.

Do you think that your color would be tricky to replicate at another salon? Or if you're still in touch with your former stylist, perhaps you could share her concerns and she would be able to pass on the formula to you? Perhaps you can try Jenava's stylist for the next cut and see how things go...

While I know you're trying to stay on the wagon, those booties are beautiful and I'm glad that they don't hurt your back while walking. REALLY loving your statement necklace and bold red lip with this outfit, too.

Well I guess if you are going to fall off the wagon, the Isabel Marant boot is a good way to go. So perfect.

I think I might look to another hairdresser. It was a Saturday but seems like the salon could be more organized and the nail thing is a little weird - I have never seen someone do color without gloves unless there was an accident where it spilled.....

St. James Breton striped tee, True Religion destroyed skinnies, taupey-grey Isabel Marant Dicker boots and Subversive gold necklace. The necklace I normally wear only in the evenings but it might be fun to dress up this outfit. The booties were my fall off the wagon item yesterday. I walked for 40 minutes yesterday and it only hurt a little, that's the longest walk I've done in over a month. So I um, rewarded myself. These booties are sold out everywhere, but my favorite local shoe store had one pair left in my size. They have a low heel.
So as many of you know my hairdresser moved to Utah. She gave my color formulations to another hairdresser and the salon for me. I went to get a bang trim from the new hairdresser. I kept waiting without explanation, and had to ask why they were late. Normally my salon squeezes in bang trims between appointments or even in the middle of someone else's color so understand I need some flexibility but at least tell me you're going to be late. Then when she was trimming my bangs I noticed her fingernails were dirty. I couldn't tell if it was from hair color or just bad hygiene. My previous hairdresser always wore gloves when doing color. In about a month I have an appointment for a full color and cut. Should I give this new hairdresser another chance, or just go to the one Jenava recommended for me?

ETA picture of bootie with ankle in view for Una, to show gap. I have fairly muscular legs and am big boned. There is still a gap but I think that's part of the style.
