Deborah, yes! I totally agree with you! I have a pair of Fluevog sandal booties that I'd love to wear with this outfit but I cannot wear them during my commute (heel is higher than 2 inches). As for the edgy jacket, I'm having such a difficult time finding them, especially the lightweight ones for summer! I wish shipping wasn't so costly or I would've gotten the Angie-recommended jackets. I like to play with the "ladylike/edgy avant-grade" juxtaposition in my personal style!

Without looking at other comments... yes this is kind of cute. For me it's the jacket and shoes that create cute here. I love wrap dresses but have given up on them for the time being as I just cannot make them work for me. BUT, if I were you, to make this more you, I would be adding an ankle boot and a more modern and edgy jacket

Rachylou, I communicate that (powerful personality) in my WIW's? :)

Btw, I look through YLF on my ipad and your name (when I type it) is officially on my autocorrect

Yes. How funny. But I think you're right. You're a more powerful personality than these items together.

Yay shoe talk!!!

Nude patent pump: I'm constantly on a lookout for this: the right shade of nude and the right heel height. I believe the Rockport Seven to 7 collection has a nude patent pump, but unfortunately they can only be my "once a month" shoes due to the heel height (I can't wear no more than 2 inches). Oddly enough, the Seven to 7 collection is more comfortable than ANY of the mistake comfort shoe brand purchases I've had in the past. I always found it odd why my feet work with this brand so much

Coloured pumps: boy, do I wish! 95% of pumps out there will sadly kill my feet. If I didn't commute by foot a lot I'd consider, but I have to be extremely selective :(

Black chunky ankle boots: I had that. It had hardware. Wore it with dresses, and I felt severely off-balanced. The proportions were strange on me. What I found works are very streamlined, clean designed boots like my Camper Agatha booties. In fact, you can see them in the link in my post! I'm wearing the booties with the dress! If ONLY they had a bootie that had a lower vamp v-shaped thing. It would be my kind of edgy.

I do wear chunky boots with some of my dresses, but they are usually tall boots. Either my Fluevogs or my Doc Martens. Tall chunky boots are a staple for me due to comfort.

I really wish my feet weren't extra fussy. I could have a wider range of brands I can wear. Unfortunately, I have to stick with the few that I know work on me I've made way too many expensive mistake shoe purchases this year

Okay- let's brain storm shoes..... A nude patent pump would be lady-like without being cute, a coloured pump or low heel would be fun, knee high black boots with a low heel...... Or perhaps black chunky ankle boots with lots of hardware for a bit of RATE?!?!

Hi fuzzylogic!

I have the black versions of those flats but they are half a size smaller (ordered pre-diagnosis). I couldn't wear them with my insoles and despite having them stretched (a lot), they still hurt! :(

I am not a fan of flats in general as most of them hurt my feet more than a 3 inch heel ever would. Also, I often feel dumpy in most of them except the ones I'm wearing (it's the shape, I believe). I do wear these flats with my long over lean outfits (when I'm taking a break from being a frockstar) and I find I wear these flats better with skinnies/leggings than dresses.

But yes - I think on a person with a different style aesthetic, this outfit would work. I'll likely revisit the same dress/jacket combo with different shoes.

From an aesthetic point of view, you are right! It does work! The proportions are great and I love the colour palette!
Pain can definitely alter how you like an outfit, though- no wonder you don't wear those shoes very often!! The shoes are the 'sweetest' part of the outfit. I think flats work- how about some pointy toe flats in the same colour?

I would describe this outfit as "cute" and "sweet" and a bit on the kitschy side. People who know my will likely describe me as "cute and swee" but somehow, I don't feel like myself when I wear something that is "cute and sweet".

I love the pieces in this outfit separately. The Gap jacket has been my "old faithful" since around 2011 and I'll likely wear it until it falls apart, just as a similar Gap jacket did prior to this one. The flats are Fluevogs that I've been lusting over for a while and nabbed when the price dropped significantly. They hurt a lot and aggravate my bunions, unfortunately so I have to limit wearing them. The dress is my power dress. I wore this to my first professional workshop (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....kshop-long). This is one of those dresses that I'll likely be forever emotionally attached to because it was a part of such an important transition in my life.

... And yet, I don't find this combination very "me". I wonder if the pain I was feeling with the shoes affected my outlook. Another possibility? I'm a heels girl and should've probably worn my Aravons with them.

Anyway, I think it looks good in a purely aesthetic standpoint, but I'll have to figure out how to "rough this outfit up" a bit to make it work for me. I do have a RATE and edgy side to me after all.
