Okay, I love 6 and 8. Stripes and stripes in 6, and a cool breezy look in 8. You always look great, even in the ones you think aren't successful.

Sterling, thank you! Thank you for initiating the 30X30 project and for your comments, which are always so complete and so thoughtful. About the jeans--pic#7 is an old pair of Levi's called "Bold Curve Skinny". They are now discontinued and replaced by the 811 Skinnies. These fit me better than any other jeans I own because the front and back rise are just right for me. The Bold Curve jeans also had the highest ratio between the waist and hip measurement, which suits me because I have a smaller waist (although not so much right now because I am still packing around about +20 lbs.) The other jeans are 501's.

I remixed the white woven shirt (it's poplin) with the jeans for the dinner outfit--I'll post that photo with the 30X30 wrap-up.

Rachy--I had to give you "Comedy" for the Put A Bird On It comment. You crack me up. It IS important to determine WHY something is favored, or not. If you don't take the time to figure that out, you'll just keep buying twee, for example, in colors other than red. ;-)

Super interesting!

I once did a fake 30x30, when I moved into my last place from the 'burbs back to the city. Huge downsize in space. Started with a palette of purple, navy and cognac. Most else was binned up and put in my mother's basement. I really didn't last long. I was over at my mum's on a weekly basis digging things out. Out of sight wasn't out of mind. But it WAS interesting what I left in the bins. Almost the entirety of my red laundry, lol. I like red; but a lot of it was Put A Bird On it twee and cheap.

Hi Emily!! Your 30 x 30 wardrobe has been perfect for your life style. I admired how every one of your WIWs is streamlined and the fit is sublime. Having a uniform is a great idea. There are many bloggers that endorse the idea. I certainly have been trying to define a type of uniform for myself. You are way ahead of the curve!!!

Like Elizabeth, you make it so hard to pick a favorite. My favorites are numbers 2, 4, 5, and 6. Perfect. I agree with you, the belt does look better in number 5. I wonder though, is it possible that you were just getting more comfortable wearing it number 5 and that is the main difference? I hadn't clued into the waist lengthening effect of the white belt until I read the comments. Great idea.

AS I wrote this you posted additional WIWs. I decided the added photos are my new favorites. Numbers 7 and 8 are fabulous. I adore that linen top. I also love the sleekness of a sleeveless top combined casually with jeans.

Are the blue jeans you are wearing the same jeans in all the pictures? They fit you like a dream.

BAM!!!!!!!!

Rachy, Sal, and Joy, Thank you!

Rachy--I imagine I'll get verbose in the wrap up next week, but I did miss things.--not because I experienced wardrobe holes, but I bought some new things and wanted to try them in outfits and I have a few items--like a denim shirt dress--that would have been a very nice break from what you've seen here.

Sal--I don't know how you are doing it with those limitations! Winter is hard! And you have a lot of different activities on your plate!

Joy--Thank you for the vote of confidence for the contrasty outfit

You look fantastic in your outfits. I love the black and white but also the lower contrast with the blue jeans.
Rachy, I missed summer and dresses most and sometimes would have worn something different, but the items in my 30x30 were fine, especially after switching out things out for other pieces the second week. I will say more when I do a roundup on Sunday or Monday.

You look great Emily.....I know the feeling of feeling the pictures are repeating themselves but it is helpful to yourself to see what works.

Rachy - I have missed one or two things but there are many I have not missed at all. However my winter wardrobe is not large so I am used to operating with limited choices. There are a couple of days I might have worn a different coat, one day I would have chosen different footwear, and tonight I would have maybe chosen a different dress.

So my question for all the 30x30
Challengers - did you miss any of the stuff excluded?

La Pedestrienne--Stripes are my go-to pattern! And about the limit of my tolerance, too. But I did like the denim or chambray shirt that you showed with the tone-on-tone floral.

Love the striped top with stripey sneakers! I'm such a pattern-happy person. :)

The way the white belt over black pants echoes the shoes in #4 is great.

Here's what I wore this week--week #4 of the 30X30 project:

Most of my time is spend at home, kid-wrangling, or walking the dog, or making an occasional pilgrimage to the grocery. I have a uniform of casual clothes for this that I do not mind wearing over and over, except that it's making me feel shy to keep posting pictures of the same things--boring for readers, surely! I think there are two days of 30X30 after this, so I'll do one more post of two outfits and put some thoughts with that post.

Pic#1--Still not happy with the fit of the white pants, but they do loosen up a lot over the course of the day.
Pic#2--I bought a new web belt--it's a men's belt from GAP--and I do not love it, but I like having a lower-contrast belt option. The belt has rows of black and white threads and one red thread near the top. The scale, overall, is a bit big and the D-ring buckle is gunmetal whereas I'd prefer if it were stainless or bright.
Pic#3--A variety of outfit variations that got me through the day.
Pic#4--I tried to do something a bit different for a shopping trip. I do not love high contrast implemented in this manner, but I didn't have the choice of tops I would have liked AND I wanted to wear the black pants, which haven't seen a lot of wears during the 30X30.
Pic #5--Casual. At home. I like the GAP belt with this outfit.
Pic#6--Long sleeves on a cooler day.
Pics#7/8--What I'm wearing now and what I think I might wear tonight for a casual dinner out. I do not like the stark contrast, here, so I may choose to wear the white top with the jeans I have on now. I did buy a pair of the GAP Best Girlfriend Jeans and I really like the wash on those--were it not for the 30X30, I'd enjoy wearing the GAP jeans with this top.

Finds: GAP jeans; earring choices for tonight; bag choices for tonight.
