On the hat and rain: I took it with me for a quick Seattle trip in December and commented about it keeping the rain off my glasses to my husband. He just gave me a look and said, "Well, yeah, that's the point of hat brims." Both "bold pattern piece" and "girlie" resonated as things that feel stylistically wrong for me. Every time I wear this skirt, it makes me sad and nostalgic for a black linen a-line skirt I used to own. Someday, I'll find another one. And&nbsp;<b>Brooklyn</b>, I hear you on somehow being okay with the floral but not the dots. The difference between pretty and girlish, perhaps?</p> <p><b>Joy,&nbsp;</b>I have a weakness for plaid, too! I feel like it's a go-anywhere, do-anything pattern - punk, preppy, vintage. It caught my eye straight away. And I like the formula you have got going of wearing a striped tee with your burgundy jacket. Simple but chic. I have a striped tee I bought last year that I have never worn. I always reach for something else. Not sure why. You have inspired me to try it with my plum coloured jacket. I think I probably would have just paired it with a black jacket. Go Magic Hat The skirt in #2 doesn't quite jive with Bookish Boho (to me it's both the print and the scale of the print). That said, I could see dotty <i>shorts </i>working. It looks like it fits nicely though, so if you added items that were more strongly "Bookish" or "Boho" then I think you could incorporate it more seamlessly. So, for example, with the leather jacket in #1 and the tall boots in #3. Striped tee, black jeans, burgundy pleather jacket, black booties. The "magic hat" is excellent for keeping rain off of my glasses. Accessorized with a reusable shopping tote, but I also carried a black clutch, not shown.</p> <p>#2 for work-at-home and a post office run. This black and white abstract polka dot skirt has been in and out of my holding zone since last summer. I love the weight of it, the shape, and the length, it goes with a lot of my wardrobe, and I often get compliments on it, but it somehow just doesn't feel "right" to me. Could be the heavy polyester knit fabric. Could be the pattern. I can't seem to wrap my head around what's wrong, so I keep pulling it out and trying again.</p> <p>#3 New eShakti dress that I posted a better photo of when I bought it a few days ago. Team Wear here! This one was taken in the "wild" at the high school where I'm volunteering. Wore for a coffee shop meeting this morning and library work this afternoon. And for my kiddo's birthday! He turns 15 today!</p>
