Challenging, but somehow doable. </p> <p>You can kept your style groove going, while simultaneously making recovery a priority. I loved how my clunky Brooks Addiction sneakers matched the boot sole height once I was weight bearing. Give yourself a pass to start with foot comfort and work the rest of your outfit around it. It will help keep things moving forward. Once you are transitioning out of the boot, it may help to wear your supportive sneakers with cushioning soles. I've had way too much, alas. One thing you'll want to be aware of is the damage that the velcro can do to other fabrics if the "hook" side accidentally attaches. I sacrificed a couple of pairs of tights that I wore pretty much every day during my boot duration because they got damaged by the velcro. It might also catch on other fabrics so you need to be aware of that and not wear anything that has a sort of nap or weave that can get stuck on the hooks. It will even stick to the arm of a sweater if you are changing the straps and one moves unexpectedly. </p> <p>Much of my boot experience occurred in the dead of winter in Nebraska so I was having to deal with putting plastic bags over my boot to keep the slush off, and also wearing socks underneath to keep my feet warm, and also to protect my leg from the straps, etc. I wore leggings/jeggings because pants didn't work over the boot. </p> <p>I could drive when I was wearing the boot on the left foot, but couldn't when it was on the right (different injury) unless I removed the boot. So inconvenient to take it on and off.&nbsp; </p> <p>My joke on the boot was: These is the most expensive shoes I ever bought at $240 because I only got 1/2 a pair and it was uncomfortable and ugly. I am actually glad my boot is a closet orphan. That will let you choose a shoe based as much on appearance as height, and then fine-tune the height. The other thing that makes walking in the boot easier is using a cane.
