PT and home exercise can definitely become a full-time job, and kudos to you for being disciplined. Glad you are getting the benefits.

Echoing Kelli and the others that you certainly LOOK amazing. The color palette with the burgundy, blue, camel, grey is working great on you.

Continued good luck with the back and shoulder!

Thanks Joy! Vacuuming is not any worse than many other "regular" activities for me.

LeDonna, thanks for the comments on the fit of my pants. I try on a LOT of pants/jeans before I find ones that work and then I very often buy duplicates, and keep them a LONG time. I also sometimes look at the finds of fabbers with similar body shapes as mine to see what brands they wear. Sticking with brands that work also helps, although not 100% of the time.

Considering going through such a rough time. You look fabulous. Do not vacuum.. Hire it done if needed. It is more pain inducing than anything I know. DH has taken over ours and is still looking for the perfect machine. Especially avoid trying to do stairs.

Thanks RunCarla! My hair has a lot of wave and when layered it is a lot of work to maintain., so I'm letting the layers grow out and am not sure where I'll go next.

Brooklyn - sorry to hear about your situation, or on a more positive note - high five to my rehab twin! Not what we would like to spend our lives on, I'm sure, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Yes, it sure is important to get on with your life. I have some days when I just can't, but more days when I can.

Thanks Shevia...taking charge IS what I've been doing but my body is sometimes still the bratty kid who won't behave. I'm liking warmer colors more too.

It's good to see you again! Three hours a day is quite a lot to commit to, so well done, and I'm glad it's helping. That kind of pain is really awful, I know.

Chris I have missed you too. So sorry to hear about your (and Brooklyn's) backs. That relentless pain is horrible. 3 hours a day of rehab is a massive commitment, well done on prioritising your health and just doing it. I am so glad that you are getting results from all your effort.

I empathise, having suffered from chronic back pain since May of last year. Having pain everyday is very tiring (for the spirit as well as the body). I’ve made some moderate progress but have also been spending a huge amount of time each day doing rehab exercises.
Anyhow, you are still looking fab. And it’s important (I’m told) to get out there and on with your life. Well done! My faves here are 1 and 5.

Thanks so much slim cat!

Cardiff Girl thanks and you are so right about chronic pain. I need to wear that leopard print sweater more The blue is a color I like but for some reason do not reach for that often.

Kellygirl thanks for the kind words!

Rachylou, thanks, and what an awful story! How could you possibly do 8 hours a day of exercise and hold down a job and eat and sleep? I'm retired so the three hours are doable, but your situation sounds far worse. Glad it is in your past

Suz, thanks so much! And yes the L&T merino Turtlenecks are fantastic...no pilling, no itching, always look good, and lightweight enough to work on slightly warmer days. Plus they continue to carry petite sizes. Easily layered over and under as you said. I have black and lavender ones too. I also bought a crewneck navy one which is equally fab and more wearable into spring. BTW you are right about L&T cashmere, I bought three crewnecks in blue, olive, and rust late last year and they are pretty good but do pill. I'm glad I bought them on sale. I think the quality used to be better. Hah, tipping my hat to TorontoGirl for "Best Year Yet!"

Thanks Joyce B!

Thanks Catherine. I have worn scarves forever it seems, sometimes because I like what it adds to an outfit, but in winter I wear them to cover my neck if I'm not wearing a turtleneck, because I run so cold. I tend to keep them for a long time but try to be mindful of how styles change. The square style with a point hanging down in front is a more modern look to my eye. I bought the olive one shown here specifically to go with the olive pullover. The white/black tattersall one was a thrift find and I've been wearing it a lot; it adds a nice bit of lightness to my mostly dark winter wardrobe. Glad to inspire you!

Chris, it is so wonderful to see you post -- I've missed you! SO sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time with the pain; it sounds dreadful. I'm really glad to hear that you have focused on dealing with that and are experiencing some improvements. Here's the the return of light and flexibility.

You look sensational -- very glam in that camel coat, and the colours in #4 are delicious on you as well.

Aren't those Lord and Taylor merino t-necks the greatest? I am working on my second one, a repeat in the same colour. I wore the first one so much it developed irreparable holes after a while...I find I wear mine the most while travelling. For some reason it layers really well (I can layer under and over it) and so when I need added warmth or a quick layer to remove it works beautifully. I bought one of their cashmere sweaters and didn't care for it as much -- it's this classic merino that seems the best. I am considering adding to my collection. :)

Glad you are finding Best Year Yet a useful addition! It's made a world of difference to me. I think I found it at a time of career transition and it helped orient me to a new reality. Something like that. But all credit is due to TorontoGirl, who put me onto it!

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with pain. Glad tho the PT has given some improvement. You look great tho for all of it, if that’s a consolation.

When I became diabetic, I was misdiagnosed as type 2... I was eight hours a day exercising, literally, and of course it did nothing and was probably even a super bad idea. Anyways, I know how interesting it is to try and schedule exercise like that. Ack!

It’s been ages since I posted anything, although I do read YLF every day. It’s been a rough few months. The issues with my back and shoulder blade muscles that I thought were mostly resolved came back in November and I was miserable. The PT I have been working with revamped the walking/exercising/etc routine I was doing. Since Mid December I’ve been spending 3 hours a day on this routine, at home and spread out over the day, and have seen huge improvement, but scheduling my days around those three hours has been interesting to say the least. I’m still experience mild pain on most days but am back to most regular activities and am doing well on getting my energy levels back to normal. For the second year in a row my early December birthday was awful :-(. On the plus side all the walking and exercising have caused me to start losing a bit of weight which is something I want to do more of. I have had to mentally let go of any assumptions of how things will progress in the future, but I am hopeful. The days are getting longer and spring is not far away

I am working on defining goals for the year (using “Best Year Ever” at Suz’s reco), but I’m choosing just a few specific goals each month. For Jan and Feb my only goals were to do the 3 hours a day of rehab and attempt to get back to all my usual activities without too much pain. I did meet the goals for the things in my control, and things are improving. I wanted to disconnect some from social media but have made exactly ZERO progress on that I did buy a few items in Jan/Feb, including much-needed replacement boots & hats for winter daily walks and some other HEWIs, and have started some spring shopping.

Here are some outfits I’ve worn in the past few months, in no particular order. My wardrobe is working pretty well. I know the quality of these photos is not great, but I honestly haven’t cared much about it or my wardrobe in the past few months. Some of the pieces are shown in finds. These are all outfits I wear outside the house - when I’m staying home I wear fleece, jeans, wool socks, house shoes...all about comfort and warmth.

• denim jacket, navy merino tneck, grey jeans, brown booties, brahmin cross body.
• ….same with brown coat, on a feb day when it was unusually warm
• tan merino tneck, burgundy faux suede jacket, lucky jeans, grey booties
• blue cashmere crewneck, grey jeans, white print scarf, grey booties
• olive cashmere crewneck, olive scarf, black jeans and booties
• grey leopard cashmere crewneck, black puffer vest, black jeans, white plaid scarf
• red cashmere tneck, mid blue jeans, black puffer vest, black booties

...and the bags & coats I’ve been mostly wearing this winter. I always have a long sleeved thermal layer underneath the sweaters. I’ve been wearing these grey and brown Naturalizer booties a lot, because we've had less snow, slush and ice than usual.

All comments and suggestions welcome, as usual!
