Love #2. Agreeing with Suz about the visual weight of the shirt in one - it could look great with white jeans.

Thank you Shevia, Suz and Diane.

I agree with the springyness of the shirt in #1 as well... and I have previously worn it with white jeans. It has bicycles all over, so it was perfect for the day I was having on Friday, which included a public lecture on cycling :), so that's why I wore it. Now I think it will be put away until spring. I was thinking that, but you have helped cement that decision. More room in the closet!

I like your reasoning around which pieces are essentials and statements and #2 is a great example of how updated pieces and the two small additions of belt and ring really work. I do see Suz's point regarding the colour of the shirt in #1, and I agree the shirt is fab. I'd love to see it with white jeans.

Couldn't agree more. The high contrast and sleek silhouette of #2 makes a definite statement! You look stunning in that one, especially. A great outfit!

I like #1 also but might have preferred a different toned shirt -- somehow the green and white reads fresh and springlike to me rather than autumnal and does not harmonize as well with the black as it might with white vest and bottoms. But it's a terrific piece on you (as are the others, for that matter!) and I agree with your analysis.

A couple more WIW's.. both casual work.

#1. It was going to be a very wet day, and I knew I'd be walking outside for quite a bit of it... a couple of meetings (with peers, no one I need to impress :), then to meet a colleague for supper, then to a public lecture (as part of a work event) so I surrendered to my rubber boots, and designed my outfit around them. Skinny jeans, Gap BF top, Target vest. I'd say that these jeans are essential, the top "regular" (not statement, yet it has bicycles all over it, so certainly a bit more unusual than essential" pulled together with a statement vest. Would you say I got that right?

#2. Had to work all day (Sat) at a cycling summit, at which I was giving a presentation. So wanted to be casual, yet professional. Now this outfit to me, is made up of essentials... white jeans,a denim shirt, and black booties. Yet those pieces are updated essentials. I also threw in a statement belt, and ring. To my eye, this kept it looking (and feeling) great, not frumpy or dated. What do YOU think?

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
