Great news: The meeting went far better than I had expected -- they were pretty much recruiting me to be on the board! We talked about the expectations for board membership and pretty much all of it is things I'm either already doing or would be super happy to do (attending board and committee meetings). Also the three ladies I talked to were super nice and down to earth and not, as I'd feared, stuck up and snooty. They said they would submit my name and I can expect to be formally inducted at the beginning of the next fiscal year in July.
