And very appropriate.</p> <p>It always kind of mystifies me when people dress in inappropriate ways for big family events like this. I remember a friend's wedding I went to years ago -- a morning wedding, in a church in a small town in Oklahoma, with a non-alcoholic tea-and-sandwiches type afternoon reception -- when the mother of the groom, who was in her 50s and not especially well preserved, if you know what I mean, wore a skin-tight black mini skirt, fishnet tights, sky-high heels, and a sequinned tank top. At the time the sky-high heels were definitely not a mainstream trend and were associated with, well, hookers, which is what she looked like. Another way to say it might be "not too fashiony."</p> <p>I might add that one of the aunts didn't get the memo. She wore a skin tight ivory sheath dress with very skimpy straps and a very low neckline with lots of cleavage, a lot of expensive jewelry, a ton of makeup, and sky-high Christian Louboutin platform shoes with those unmistakable red soles.
