And page boy -- that's on the money. I have rocked many a page boy hair cut over the years.</p> <p>And hats -- hats are a lifelong obsession. In second grade I bought a red wool cap very similar to the current pink one, so that I could be a newsie for Halloween. I can't believe that at age seven I already had enough "culture" and was in tune enough with my own style that my aspirational look was paperboy. In addition to a small wallet, keys, phone and pen, I carry a wallet size zippered bag that holds tissues, lipstick, pill case if needed, earplugs if needed, eyeglass cleaner cloth, teeth flossers and miscellaneous stuff like that. It gets transferred from one bag to another. I have a three year old, and he's well beyond the diaper bag phase, which means I no longer schlep kid stuff. Very liberating! I used to carry a small notebook and pen, but now I just use my phone for notes (sad but true). The only thing I misplace is my lip balm! And I do that regardless of whether I have a bag or not. I feel like more of a grown-up when I carry a bag, but my larger bags seem so empty most of the time... Tricky weather -- frosty in the mornings, then sunny and warm by the afternoon. Lots of layering.</p> <p>1 -- Core items: Levis 501s, Uniqlo turtleneck, Blundstones. Other: beanie, sunnies, Uniqlo puffer. No bag -- I ended up throwing everything in a gear backpack and using it all day (was leading a group hike in the afternoon). Wore the jeans full-length for once and didn't hate it.</p> <p>2/3 -- Core items: 501s, field jacket. Other: St John breton top, sunnies, Allbirds slip-ons, bumblebee scarf (see #3 for scarf close-up). I like the look of this scarf, but still find wearing non-winter scarves a little too fussy for most days.</p> <p>4 -- Worn for working at a children's outdoor program. Core items: LL Bean flannel, old Mountain Khakis chore pants, Blundstones. Other: sunnies, beanie, puffy vest. Not a "fashion" outfit in any sense, but I really like this one.</p> <p>5/6 -- Core items: 501s, chambray shirt, oxfords. Other: sunnies, puffy vest. Thought I'd dress up this very simple denim-on-denim look with my "good" shoes since I finally had a day where I wasn't doing anything too grubby. I considered wearing the jeans un-cuffed (#6), but didn't like it and rolled them back up. These blue ones are a smidge longer than my black ones.&nbsp;</p> <p>7 -- Today! I teach a class on Fridays, so it's my "blazer day". Core items: Brooks Brothers blazer, Uniqlo sweater, same 501s as yesterday, lace-up boots. Other: sunnies, fisherman cap. It will get too hot for the blazer later today, but whatever.</p> <p>I managed to not use bags at all this week, since these outfits all have a plethora of pockets -- plenty for phone, wallet and keys. I'm lazy, so everything else I usually carry has spent all week in the backpack I take on day hikes.&nbsp; </p>
